“Good and getting better”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 via mobile

I've grown up next to this railway and now moved away nut as I visit family regularly I got a 3 year family pass, the money you make back in just a few uses. The kids love it, the station is constantly improving and staff are nice. The cheesy chips come in big portions which is yummy and you get plenty of rides throughout the day. Best in the summer but on rainy days you can get a cabin easily to yourself which is ok if you don't plans in getting off to do any exploring instead you can just enjoy the ride.

“Excellent day!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

We booked a Sunday lunch on the railway: what a good decision! The tables were beautifully laid, the staff ( all volunteers by the way) were friendly and very helpful and the food was superb! We chose the beef which was full of flavour and very tender. Apparently all the meat is from a local butcher so it was good to see local businesses supporting each other. The fresh fruit salad was a real mix of fresh fruit: more than just the general 4 fruits if you're lucky!
The novelty of travelling up and down a rural railway line behind a steam engine, with fabulous food and wine made this a relaxing and enjoyable day out. Highly recommended and well done to all at the railway for their hard work and enthusiasm.

“So, this time we took a packed lunch.....and we didn't need it!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Last year we visited the nice little Avon Valley Railway in Bitton at lunchtime on the day they co-organised the Bristol Vintage Bus Rally and we couldn't get anything to eat! There were so many people there their rather less than slick catering operation was in meltdown. This year we went again (equipped with sandwiches) but they were in control - loads of food, separate roll and sarnie outlet, buses arriving every 15 minutes - no problemo! It's probably fair to add that this was the day the remnants of Hurricane Bertha chose to drop in on the West Country and exert a little downward pressure on visitor numbers - nevertheless there were plenty of customers and they were dishing out the food and drink like true professionals. Good news!

“Celebration of Life”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

A truly heartfelt thank you to Bridget and all the staff at Avon Valley Railway, Bitton, for all the hard work that went into making the 'Celebration of Life' for my late husband, a very special occasion.
We organised a high tea for 100. There was an excellent choice of sandwiches, sausage rolls and cakes, and plenty of it. The whole set up was superb with three dining carriages alongside the platform, for the buffet, a bar setup on the platform and even a station master to meet and greet.

“Murder mystery on a train”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Halloween murder mystery on a train with fancy dress. I liked it. Food ok and filling. Byo drinks. Weather poor but they did very well at acting it out in the carriages so we didn't get wet. Tables are 2 or 4 in first class, so our group of 5 was a bit awkward, someone had to sit out.
