Really good zoo in really nice surroundings.

Excellent layout and plenty of room to give animals a good quality of life.

Plenty to do also for kids with an adventure "playground" allowing kids and adults alike to climb about above people's heads to an abseiling finish.

Good quality food and plenty of places to sit down and watch the world move.

We found Bristol Zoo was well-laid out, very varied and a great way to spend a few hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon. It was swarming with family groups with screaming children who often clogged up pathways for others - though these could be avoided if you moved around quickly enough. We were particularly impressed by the zoo’s emphasis on conservation, and in articulating the threats to many of these species in the wild (almost without exception, us humans!)

Sometimes when you go to zoos, the enclosures seem small or unimaginative – but by and large that wasn’t the case here. The keepers were all enthusiastic and helpful, and were happy to chat about the animals in their care.

Our only issue was transport – after leaving the zoo on a Sunday afternoon, we had to wait 45 minutes for a bus back into town, which was a bit of a pain.

The main attraction here was seeing gorillas and was all I really wanted from the visit especially since reading about the new enclosure for them, and I was simply in awe of Jock, I could have spent all day in there just watching him and his family. The rest of the zoo is fantastic. All the enclosures are large enough (perhaps apart from the Penguins but then again I am from Edinburgh) and all the animals were well looked after. The staff were open to chatting with us, especially in the bat walkthrough where they were studying the male hierarchy for breeding. The lorikeets feeding is fun but watch for them trying to eat anything white... Hairbobbles, phones, nothing us safe from a wee peck. Well worth a visit if in Bristol

This is a great zoo and day out. The zoo has a very clean look and feel with a wide variety of animals. Kids also enjoyed the shows and events, particularly the puppet show. Worth buying your ticket online in advance to avoid the queues on a busy day. Parking could be better organised as it was causing major traffic issues on the main road leading to the zoo. Otherwise hard to fault.

Went to Bristol Zoo on the 8th of June with my two children ages 7 & 3. We really enjoyed the meet the animal session on the main green and the activity centre is great for young kids. Beat to go on a nice day although the freak thunder storm didn't ruin our day !
