The welcome was anything but - the girl on reception needs a lesson in making people FEEL welcome. A smile would help. The room in the eaves was so tiny that I bashed my leg on the bedside table everytime I walked in the room. But, in contrast, the bathroom was huge! The remote for the TV didn't work - irritating and showed a lack of attention to detail. The barman had no idea what I meant when I asked for a 'Macallan' - one of the most popular malt whiskys. And finally service at breakfast was efficient but lukewarm on the friendly front. Overall, it felt like the staff were less than happy in their work. Perhaps it's not a happy boat. And, by the way, the NCP overnight parking costs £12.50, but only if you ask for them to stamp your ticket for a discount - they don't ask if you need a stamp - I only knew because I happened to spot a notice. Again - just a little more effort could make this a great little hotel.
