Description: Occupying an amazing space in the Tobacco Factory, the new Thali Cafe in Southville is the Thali's most ambitious project yet, with a fabulous bar and a restaurant that can seat over 100 diners. Right next to the thriving Tobacco Factory Theatre it’s the perfect place for a pre or post-show meal or drink. The Thali Southville is also the first of our restaurants to serve the new menu; with an emphasis on sharing we’ve introduced lots of exciting new dishes whilst keeping all of the Thali favourites. Quirky decor. Great atmosphere. Free Wifi. Kids welcome. Award-winning Tiffin Takeaway scheme. Please book to avoid disappointment.

“Mid Week Dinner”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Never eaten here before and decided to try as my father was staying close by and he had seen it. Mid week, very busy and very interesting menu. Food came very quickly after ordering and was very hot & tasty. Good very Vegetarians and meat eaters as they cater for both. Cider was exceptionally nice and a very unusual Brand although from just up the road Hereford. Really enjoyable and an extremely once Chicken curry. All 4 of us had something different and all 4 enjoyed it and we satisfied. A busy vibrant place and well worth a visit.

“Delicious food and great service”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

I love the thali cafe and even more since they have added more colour to the space. I had my birthday here 20 people and the service, food and price was all perfect. I also like the breakfasts. All food yum my favourite is the fish thali and pander dish fab!

“Relaxed atmosphere & good food”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

The bar / restaurant is one of the biggest in the area. We go quite regularly for lunch and the food is reliably good. Our fussy 4-year-old even enjoys the children's curry & spicy fish and chips. Some lovely drinks and puddings too.

“Great for non-gluten diners”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

The building is as idiosyncratic as the others in this small chain; comfortable and interesting space. Not in any way formal, it is an ideal place to enjoy with friends or family, or to hold an informal business meeting, as I have witnessed several times. This is a very convenient venue if one is visiting the Tobacco Factory Theatre. I take my toddler grand-daughter there as it is helpful in 'public space' training and she is always treated in a very friendly manner by staff and provided with appropriate cutlery and tableware.
The menu is suitable for gluten intolerant diners, meat eaters and vegetarians, with a wide range of small dishes resulting in no-one feeling left out. I also have a tiffin to take dishes home in, which is generous for one, a little thin for two.

“Good but not Great. Worth a Visit.”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Of the 5 locations for this restaurant chain, we opted for Southville at the Tobacco Factory.
The food choice is great, catering for meat-eaters, veggies and vegans.
Menu is unclutered and easy to pick from. Careful, it is easy to order far too much.

Fish cakes are tasty as were the potato bondas. Thali's are nice enough and filling.
Only real criticism is that the food seems to be geared more to the Western Palatte. Yup, they miss that slight edge to true Indian food. Food is good but not great - it lacks the flavours & spice that I expected.

We were visiting Bristol from Reading and were really looking forward to a tasty meal and opted for The Thali as this comes highly recommended and with exceptional reviews.
Overall it is good value for money. It's worth a try but if like me, you will leave feeling everso slightly dissapointed in the overall experience.

My choice is the Moghul Thali for mains and the Ginger Stem Kulfi for desert - it's devine!

It's good but not great. Pund for pound, it's worth a delve.
