This pub is probably loved by the locals who like the atmosphere created by seeing all their friends there, but to an outsider it is pretty mediocre. We went in the early evening on a weekday, and the garden was already crowded, but I didn't want to sit there or near the back door because it stank so badly of cigarette smoke which was wafting in. The garden is narrow with high walls and trellises overhead, so the smoke has nowhere to go. I had a chili con carne, which was completely unexceptional: bland, and quite unnecessarily sprinkled with cheddar cheese. At least it was fairly cheap. I can't comment on the beers, though the staff were friendly enough. The toilets were down a flight of steep, narrow stairs, and I don't know if they had any more accessible for those with mobility problems. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again.
