Ibis Bristol Centre

We have stayed at the Ibis Tempe Meads Quay and enjoyed it. Read reviews saying this one was better so thought we would try it as we visit Bristol a lot.
First impressions of the room weren't good. The mugs were dirty with a rim of brown at the top, the window was broken and the air cooler didn't work, the room was baking. There wasn't a net curtain and there was an office block close on the other side with a clear view of us.
They changed us to a different room without any problem and apologised, I thought the guy had a slight 'attitude' though.
Everyone else was friendly and I must praise Colin on reception who spent ages in vain trying to get my i pad to connect to their free wifi!
Comfortable beds and good soundproofing as it can be noisy with people coming back late from bars. No air conditioning, they have air cooling which doesn't seem that effective as the room became quite hot. Windows can be opened for fresh air which is nice but have to be closed when it becomes too noisy outside to sleep.
We didn't eat there as normally Ibis food isn't great, we tried a coffee but wished we hadn't, better to walk round the corner to Costa.
As we left I move the net to retrieve something and the net fell down!!
Ibis are good budget hotels but we prefer Ibis Temple Meads. It's brighter, has a better bar area and the rooms are cleaner.
Very good location, close to everything we wanted, many bars, coffee shops and restaurants close by.

Free wifi, not really. Good bed, not really. Good tv, not really. Free view is a bare minimum these days so six channels at bad quality in the wrong aspect ratio is unacceptable. From the point of view of a contracter working away looking for a home comfort. Beyond the unfulfilled grand claims on the website, it's okay. Clean and well located.

This hotel is so well located that I now always opt to stay here when in Bristol on business. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean. The beds are the most comfortable of any hotel I have stayed in and the shower is modern, powerful and with oodles of hot water.

I prefer now to stay here over the Marriott and the Radisson Blu - it's so much better value for money.

Lovely location, highly recommend it. Walking distance to the Broadmead shopping area, U of Bristol (but be warned, it's uphill!), and if you have no luggage, walking distance to Temple Meads to catch your train. It's next to @Bristol and Bristol Aquarium. Costa, Tesco Express and many other eateries are within the vicinity.
Bed is comfortable, room is decent sized, bathroom is good sized.
I like the fact that shampoo and soap are provided in big bottles, instead of little environmentally-unfriendly small bottles.
Wifi is free!
Heater/aircon is a confusing system. First night i was freezing, the heater didnt seem to work. But it was alright on subsequent nights.

Hotel has a 15-min response promise, but didnt work out for me. Twice I asked for help, no one came to help! :(

But despite all that, Will definitely come back to stay!

Perfect for Bristol Half Marathon....bit noisy at night but you are in the heart of Bristol! Great access to restaurants/bars and parking. Discounted parking at the millenium sq underground car park. Cheap and functional and good value. But watch out for obligatory hen parties and stag dos!
