“Fabulous bargain break”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

The best thing about this hotel has to be the location. The hotel itself is a typical Ibis with fairly basic but spacious rooms. This one though is in a mainly pedestrianized area so is very quiet and is a mere 5 minute walk to the harbour, which is full of bars and restaurants. We didn’t even bother having breakfast at the hotel as there are so many restaurants and cafes in the area. It was more fun trying a different one out each day. We can personally recommend the Severn Shed’s eggs benedict – delicious! The car park over the way from the hotel is convenient but at £12.50 a day (after hotel reduction) it works out quite pricey if you’re there for any length of time. We found the Wapping Wharf car park, a 10 minute walk from the hotel and only £7 a day or £28 maximum for a week. Book the hotel through the Ibis website more than 30 days in advance and your time away could, like ours, become a truly bargain break.
The only negative would have to be the really poor choice of tv channels. If you’re travelling alone then make sure your computer is internet tv enabled or take a good book. There were less than 10 channels to choose from – it was like going back to pre-digital days. Other than that we would highly recommend the hotel as a perfect base for exploring Bristol.

Room Tip: Our room (135) on the car park side was very quiet.

Nice clean reception areas and friendly staff. Well located for all the sights of Bristol. Price reasonable but opted not to try the breakfast after seeing other comments here. There is a Tesco store very close by. Rooms are small but spotless. The bath pods are a matter of test and feel more like an oversized mobile toilet but they work and are well designed.

The air cooling/heating system did not appear to work and meant that i had to leave the window open, with resulting street noise.

I stayed in IBIS before elsewhere, so knew what to expect. I was not disappointed. And try their Chicken Korma - fantastic! Caesar salad's not bad either. There's no room service, so just go down to the main reception and order, pay and take to your room. The staff at the reception were really friendly. They told me that Tesco Express was just around the corner and also suggested a curry restaurant which I reviewed separately. I really liked the bed. It's difficult to describe a good bed that would fit everyone - some like it hard, others soft. I guess for me it's the one that when you wake up in the morning, you don't want to get out of it but you do because you have to. And hey - you can get continental breakfast as early as 4am for those who cannot sleep. The only thing that bothered me was noise from outside very early in the morning that woke me up.Waste collectors? Something else? Don't know, but the next night I had my window shut, so dealt with the noise successfully. Going into the bathroom was like using a portable toilet on a train which I found really funny. I have been to a number of hotels and I wouldn't mind staying in this one again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that's not on the right side of the hotel (if you're at the front of the hote...

Okay - Small rooms - And caravan style bathroom pod - but immaculately clean - comfy bed and decent decor at a budget price - can't go much wrong.....

Reception check in and out was straight forward - and staff really friendly.

Location great for the many offices in the vicinity - nd for many of Bristol's tourist areas. About 15 mins walk to the shopping areas.

Restaurant and bar were OK - basic menu - and prices were higher than advertised???

Really good Breakfast - excellent value.. And discounted parking.

No net curtains - and rooms face offices and a 24 hr Gym!

Free wifi throughout hotel - not a bad speed either.!

Room Tip: High floor - facing front {above front door}

The rooms are fine: clean, well appointed although I dislike the Shower "pods" they fit into the room. Feel like a portacabin.

The breakfast is not brilliant: bacon overcooked and hard, all of it pretty cold. I was there 3 nights, and each day it was cold. Coffee good, though.

Star of the show was Michael on bar duty in the evenings: the bar area is sterile and functional, ultimately unwelcoming: but Michael has bags of character, is attentive and kept us in the bar rather than going out a bit longer than we planned.
