I had to stay in High Wycombe for work and I was put up here by my company. Having seen some of the previous reviews, I had my concerns. However the accomodation, although basic, was clean and pleasant. The bar downstairs serves both traditional and Thai food. As I was staying for 4 nights, I ended up trying both and both were delicious. The Thai is some of the best I have tasted inside or outside Thailand. Highly recommended.

The Wendover Arms is a pub with B and B accomodation. We booked from its website having failed to secure a room at our usual hotel in the town. We paid £77 for a room and breakfast. On arrival we paid for our room and were then shown up. The room was accessed via a corridor which smelled of urine. The room itself had an unpleasant smell of stale cigarette smoke. The furnishings were cheap and unmatched and the beds were similarly cheap and nasty. We only decided to stay put as we were meeting family for a meal in the pub. The staff were pleasant enough. Later in the evening on asking about breakfast we were told that they didn't do breakfast. When pressed after first laughing off our concerns we were told that breakfast was available at another hotel athough we were told we might have to pay extra. Our obvious annoyance resulted in a promise to sort out breakfast at the other hotel. In summary the room was disgusting. My wife slept in her clothes because she felt uncomfortable in the room (although the bedlinen was clean). We did not even bother seeking out the breakfast hotel. We normally stay in much better accomodation but the point is that had we paid £30 for the room the standard would have been acceptable but for what we did pay it was a total rip off. AVOID this place unless grubby and smelly is your thing.

This place has recently been taken over and was recommended by a friend who lives local. A group of us met for a birthday meal. Both the food and service were very good. The portions was generous but not too much and the food was really fresh and very authentic. Two of the group were vegetarian and the tofu in both the Massaman and the Green curry was cooked to perfection. The vegetable spring rolls were delicious. Another couple had the platter which was very tasty. We don't live local but would definetly make a trip here again, the food was fantastic. Top tip make sure you have a Phad Thai....

Stopped for some food at a nice looking pub in High Wycombe and found an absolutely brilliant Thai restaurant hiding out the back. "A taste of Thai" was the most authentic Thai food I've had since travelling in Thailand in 2005. Try the prawn green curry with a side of spring rolls and you will be in Thailand!!! Amazing food.
