“Adequate stay, slept well”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Made a last minute booking here the evening before flying back to The States as it was an easy 25min drive from Heathrow. It was very cheap for a last minute booking, and so I was pretty happy with the place.
It definitely felt more like a pub than a hotel, but we were checked in quickly and pretty efficiently (although it was a bit strange that the sign in book seemingly requested for you to write your address for everyone else to see..of course I didn't include detail). The check in area is also the bar, and seeing as we checked in at around 11pm, it was somewhat to be expected that we attracted a little attention with huge suitcases and tourist looks.

The room itself was newly fitted and comfy. Would have preferred more than one pillow each, but that's nothing major. It was a little strange that to turn off the fan in the bathroom you essentially had to turn off all of the lights in the room, but it didn't really matter for the sake of getting a night's sleep. Also worth noting that the soundproofing in the bathroom was very good, so when the door was shut we could barely hear the fan anyway.

Would stay here again if I was in the same predicament, but probably wouldn't pay a premium over somewhere else with decent reviews.

I stayed here for work on a weeknight. The hotel has obviously been refitted fairly recently but could do with a few home touches like somewhere to hang your towel and clothes in the bathroom, a light switch to turn the bathroom light and fan off without switching all the lights in the room off and a few pictures on the walls. Part of the hotel appears to still be a building site. Car park is too small. Welcome on arrival was ok but there weren't any helpful instructions like details of alternative entrance, breakfast, wi fi. Luckily there was a handy leaflet in the room. Wifi fairly good and TV is decent size and quality. Room clean and tidy and had comfy pillows. Shower tray sunk slightly when I stepped into it (and I'm not a big person)! Corridor outside the room is noisy with a lot of banging doors which rattle the room door. Tea is basic supermarket brand. Glasses in room don't match. Breakfast was possibly the worst I've come across in 8 years of staying in hotels for work. The welcome from the staff was frankly unwelcoming! The food had clearly been cooked in a microwave and tasted like cardboard. The tea tasted like toilet water and was served as a cup of hot water with a tea bag in it. Staff undertook a spring clean of the room around me whilst I sat eating breakfast.
I would say the hotel is suitable for a single night stay but some improvements are definitely required namely the breakfast and customer service.

Just had 4 sleepless nights here [work]. I have stayed before in a small double at the rear a bit of noise not much it is a pub as well so you expect it.How ever in a largedouble room on top of pub this time barman/rep man and friends a few locals in the pub on monday had to go downs stairs to ask for the one speaker under my room to be turned down as the rave music sometimes mixed in with the very loud televison at approx 8pm to see if i could move room but at it was not possible the barman said he would turn it down and call up to see me as is was happening some one shouted TELL HIM TO F****O**.after 10 mins music went right back up till after midnight still awaiting bar/rep man.ALSO sent request to get this sorted to THE BUCKINGHAM as these are run by the same people and other properties in the area with no response. The last 3 nights the music went off about 1ish not the tv as people were still drinking in the bar well gone 2 when i was so knacked after a fulls days work had dropped off waking up everytime somebody went the toilet in the bar the door slammed shut it was not quite. So if want to drink late and make lots of noise the wendover arms is for you,if you do stay ask for as small room downstairs at the back were you will only hear one door slam when people go to and from the bar.The good bit the rooms are clean and new basic fit.I THINK THE OWNERS JUST NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THEY HAVE PAYING GUESTS WHO DON'T WANT TO GET DRUNK AND SHOUT VERY LOUD TILL GONE 2AM.

Room Tip: Small room downstairs at back

Stayed for one night as booked late and my regular Gerrards Cross hotels were full. Check in was easy at the bar with a friendly landlord and the rooms seemed to be very recently refurnished and still had fresh paint and carpet smell so all was good. Room had all you needed and the bonus of a plug actually being in proximity of the bed side table to charge your phone overnight and still be in easy reach. The room was small but had flat screen TV and desk etc however the walls were so thin and could hear the full conversation from the adjacent rooms and beyond. Didn’t have time for breakfast but seemed to be popular with the tables full of contractors waiting for the fry up in the bar as I departed.

I travel quite a lot with work, the rooms here had just been refurbished, everything is new and beds are comfortable, great showers. The pub never used to have rooms and now they have made 21 rooms the bar is great with a variety of things going on in it (the bar is still getting done out but very near completion). They have a brand new kitchen and will be doing English & Asian food. If you need anything just ask the bar man as he is extremely helpful!!
There is parking behind the pub and it's got a separate entrance to the rooms and you need your room key to get through, which is very handy. There is a corner shop over the road if you forget something. Will definitely stay there again, it's clean, tidy, friendly and just what you need when travelling with business.

We stayed at the Wendover Arms for 1 night at very short notice and was pleasantly surprised at the very modern and bright rooms.
Some people may be put off by the check in area in the pub but once you have your room key, there is a separate entrance for guests.
Very reasonably priced.

just spent two nights at the wendover arms in high Wycombe, I was really surprised at the high standard of the room I was in tidy modern comfortable infact one of the best rooms I've slept in and I work away from home a lot.
The pub is being renovated at the moment but don't let this put u off.
The only concern I had was the top car park. being from Liverpool I can spot trouble straight away the owners need to light the car park at night maybe some cameras defiantly dodgy.I brought my vehicle down into the staff car park, but a pleasant stay.
