“Its a very hilly type place but nice hotel.”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

Only stayed one night. Walked up from the station. Don't recommend that for those with lots of luggage or a weak heart. Its walkable but takes about 30-40 mins and is up hill all the way :-)
Its out of the town center so not great if you are wanting to peruse the shops.
Nice place though. Quiet considering its by busy roads.
All very nice and clean, good bathrooms and room size. Friendly and efficient staff. Didn't like the service charge on my food though at the bar :-(
£4.20 for a pint of stella is normal. Bar food bit limited for veggies.
Breakfast, again limited but they do go some way to making up for the lack of veggie option with the Holiday Inn pancake machine! No one ever seems to use these but they are quite nice. Thick little pancakes like scotch ones but larger. PRess the button and watch the black bar move from the S to the F and out flops your pancake. Try it, they taste nice.

Dear NathanBroon,

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Tripadvisor.

I am happy to see that you have found the team to be friendly and efficient.

Regarding the journey from the station to the hotel, I would like to you, for future reference, that there is a bus going from the station. The journey takes about 5/10 minutes.

I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back.

Kind regards,

Elena

Basic hotel that delivers what you expect; a clean room, good bed and the expected room facilities. The breakfast is OK, includes the basic stuff + a few nice extras (like a wide selection of fresh fruit, pancakes). The servcie is however better then expected; fast and friendly reception staff and very friendly staff in the breakfast area. Price/Performance rather good, this hotel does the expected job with good service, but nothing more.

Dear FRHOSE, thank you for your honest feedback from your stay with us. I am glad that we ticked all the boxes on what was expected of us and that the service exceeded your expectations. However was disappointed to read that breakfast did not WOW you. We have spent a lot of time on changing the breakfast offering to include pancake machine, large selection of fresh fruit, pastries and breads as well as the traditional English. It would be great if you could email me directly with specifics on breakfast so that I may review and look at what more we can do to enhance the Guest experience. mark.langham@ihg.com

Thank you again for the comments and I hope that you will use us again in the future.

Kind regards

Mark

Having just returned from this Holiday Inn it seemed appropriate to record our very positive experience which can hopefully inform those who may visit in the future. We arrived at 7pm for two nights on what was a very busy Friday night for the hotel staff. The hotel was full (including an away football team and its entourage) but the check-in process was fast and friendly and our room clean, comfortable and equipped with all that you would need. The buffet breakfast arrangements are great. The selection is wide and kept constantly restocked and hot - this is not what happens in all hotels in our experience.
The public areas are pleasantly furnished and the staff proved to be cheerful, polite and efficient - which sort of covers all the important bases.
If one had to criticise any aspects of the experience it could only be that that the poor old staff at breakfast service were really stretched by the numbers involved and could certainly have done with some help - I nearly volunteered:-). Also a glass of Rose wine at £6 (not at breakfast but the evening prior:-)) seemed a bit steep
These small issues aside, it was a very good experience which we'll be most happy to repeat - thank you.

Dear clivedixon, thank you for your review after staying at Holiday Inn High Wycombe. It was great to read that you had a fantastic time whilst staying with us and I have passed on all your comments to the Hotel Team. We have recently reviewed our wine prices and have reduced all the prices down to be more in line with other local hotels.

We have worked very hard on the breakfast offering and have made some great additions to our award winning breakfast which seems to be going down very well with our Guests since the changes.

I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Thank you

Mark

I had to book this hotel at the last minute. The price was very high for what you get. This hotel seemed to be visited mostly by business travelers. For $250 a night I expected free Wi Fi but got 5 GBP for 1 hour, 10 GBP for 4 hours and 16 GBP for 24 hours instead. Breakfast was included and was a buffet of middling quality. All of the staff were friendly young people and were helpful. The hotel is 2 stories high but has no lift. It is showing it's age. The rooms were large and relatively clean. I had difficulty getting checked out in local currency... they kept trying to check me out in dollars using a disadvantageous exchange rate.

Room Tip: No lift so get a ground floor room

Thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. I would always advise if possible to try and book your bedroom in advance as we offer some great discounts. You will be pleased to hear that we offer standard internet free to all Elite IHG Rewards Club Members and in 2014 this will extend to Club Members as well, alternatively when booking an Executive bedroom at High Wycombe, internet is inclusive of the rate.
We have recently been able to allow Guests to pay their final bill with currency other than Sterling and the exchange rates are set through Fexico daily, alternatively we can process payment on debit/credit cards in your local currency.

I hope that we can welcome you back soon to High Wycombe.

Kind regards

Alright for one night on business. The standard double room facing the courtyard ( £99) was absolutely tiny - no room to swing a cat! Although bed comfortable there was so much noise from other bathrooms and people walking down corridor sleep was hard to come by. Wooden doors as curtains a bit weird and bathroom shower dated. Quick check in and out. Room service took while . Ordered house burger without bun and with ketchup and mayo. Arrived in bun and no mayo but by then couldn't be bothered to wait any longer. Good position but expensive for size and quality.

Room Tip: Probably better to stay in good country B&B

Thank you for your honest feedback from your recent stay with us. The hotel runs a rolling maintenance plan which does include bedrooms, it would be great if you could email me back with the room that you stayed in so that I may look at the furniture and see what needs to be done. I have noted your disappointment on the coffee. At this hotel we proudly serve Starbucks which is audited monthly by Starbucks to ensure consistency and compliance to their standards. We do conduct regular checks within the area to ensure we remain competitive on our price.

Thank you again for your valid comments, Guest's such as yourself helps us to maintain and drive our standards.

We look forward to hosting your next stay when in High Wycombe.

Kind regards

We stayed for 2 nights at the Holiday Inn High Wycombe. The check-in was quick and easy as we had booked and paid on-line. The room was clean and spacious and overlooked the garden area so it was lovely and quiet throughout our stay. We had dinner on the first night and this was served by a very friendly waitress called Sophie who could not do enough to make our meal enjoyable. The breakfasts were wholesome and offered a very good choice from continental to full English. As we checked out, the Receptionist was very friendly and helpful in directing us on our further travels. We would not hesitate to return to this Holiday Inn hotel.

Room Tip: garden facing rooms are probably the quietest.

Thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. Since we changed the Breakfast earlier this year the feedback has been very positive, I hope that you got to try out the pancake machine? When Team Members such as Sophie, have been singled out by our Guests on their outstanding service I always like to recognise this with a thank you card and a little gift from our lucky dip bin.

Again thank you for your honest review of Holiday Inn High Wycombe and I look forward to welcoming you back soon.
