Recently visited Dolce for the first time after reading such rave reviews. Really sad to say, it was a very disappointing experience.

Pros
+ Good location (with green in front of the restaurant)
+ Modern decor, outside seating area, website, etc

Cons
- We were really shocked to see a tub of Tesco Ice Cream being used for desserts made at the bar. The menu listed "Italian Ice Cream" so we expect to be served something other than what we can purchase in our local Tesco Express

- The Diet Coke was unpleasant, probably off a tap with incorrect ratios of syrup/carbonated water and the drink glasses were greasy with fluff/hair and dirt floating in them (the table's side plates were also greasy with fluff on them)

- We ordered the pizza for our mains, and I can only describe the taste as "cheese on toast". They did not use authentic buffalo mozzarella, but a standard mozzarella that you would get on a supermarket pizza - using the right cheese is a 1/3 of what makes a great and authentic pizza

- One of our pizzas had the addition of goats cheese, which was not listed on the menu - wouldn't necessarily be a problem, unless you don't like that additional item of course

- The table next to us made some complaints about their order, and overall, left quite a lot of food on their plates before leaving

- The restaurant was unbearably hot (no air conditioning), and we were actually sweating. I would have moved to one of the few tables directly outside the restaurant door; but these were being used by smokers

- There were a lot of takeaway pizzas being ordered/collected right next to our table. I felt that this undermines the restaurant experience - a disruptive chain of staff were constantly running up and down the restaurant taking pizza boxes from the kitchen to customers who were collecting, this was frustrating to see whilst we were waiting for our food.

All in all it was a big let down. The food was nothing special, the environment was hot and grubby, and the price was double what you'd pay at your local Pizza Express.

We would not return to this restaurant.

Booked table for six to celebrate a birthday first impression, very noisy and too many tables crammed into a small space. Ordered a coke which was changed three times until it arrived with some fizz! Food was good. Main problem arrived with the bill when it showed we had ordered a peroni beer, at £3.45 not right it was half a shandy, when queried we were told it's the same price anyway this would mean £6.90 for a pint of shandy, the waitress then said she did not set the prices - not helpful - must be the most expensive shandy ever. Last but not least when the bill was presented we were told cash only as their machine out of order. It is very sad that a restaurant that can produce good food is let down by the staff and silly problems. Will not go again and certainly could not recommend it, food good experience poor.

We decided to go for dinner and stumbled across Dolce a few miles from our house. First impressions very good, nice greeting by Italian waiter. Sat at a lovely big table, authentic atmosphere and very well decorated restaurant. Food was very good overall. Garlic bread was very bland and we had to request seasoning. Main courses were exceptionally good - slightly overpriced, but nonetheless good value for money for a proper freshly cooked food. The only comments to note from our visit would be that our waitress was very uninterested and some would say rude, which is surprising as a service charge was added to the bill automatically (table of 2). A drink was added to our bill which we never ordered and when she brought our food over she made us identify if a) the food was actually ours and b) who was eating what (she took the order and there was 12 people in the restaurant). Overall, great food, really nice ambience and decor, front of house bubbly and charismatic, very welcoming but disappointing service from some team members.

Went to Dolce a few weeks ago for a retirement party wow!!!! The food was amazing service too can't fault the place had a great evening would thouroughly recommend Dolce to anyone try the Steak, gets busy so book early.

After a recommendation by a friend i'm a Dolceholic, the food is wonderful and the atmosphere is is cosy and bubbly. Everyone i have taken so far for a meal has agreed its the best food around, it can get busy and a you may wait a while but believe me it is 100% worth it, this is not food to be rushed. Simply excellent thank you Dolce.
