I'll begin with the positives: Bed was nice and comfortable, location good for easy access to the town. Unfortunately that's where the positives end.
The negatives: We arrived to discover there was no car park, so had to park in the Eden car park accross the road (to be fair this is stated on the website). Unfortunately parking for the night and the next day cost us about £25, but considering there is no alternative, the car park rates should be on the website imo. The car park is inside a shopping complex, but there are no signs telling you how to get to the hotel (you can't simply cross the street as the hotel entrance is not at road level). When we eventually got to the hotel, walked past the broken vending machine and reached the reception, we mentioned our difficulty finding the entrance to the man on reception. He told us it was easy (without actually giving us any directions!) and gave us our key. Its a good job we weren't carrying much luggage, as the lifts are very much like a matchbox filled with cigarette smoke.
Thankfully, the room itself wasn't too bad. Although the rapidly filling shower tray could be a potential irritation. The lack of bedside tables was also a tad annoying.
By far the worst part of our stay was breakfast the next morning. There were perhaps 10 people in the breakfast room, however there was almost no food available asude from about a spoonful of watery scambled egg, a few baked beans and a pile of sausages that tasted of dettol. More food was brought out, but one item at a time separated by 5 minute intervals. I don't know anyone who eats breakfast one cold, disinfectant flavoured item at a time! This tasty treat was washed down with some watered down apple juice and a cup of coffee from a machine. The absolute irony is that this poor excuse for a breakfast was advertised as all you can eat, at a cost of £7.95. Bargain! When we mentioned this to staff we were told to get up earlier (it was only 9am) or "come back tomorrow and we'll do better". No thanks. We were told that vouchers would be emailed to us, but vouchers for more punishment at a reduced rate is no replacement for competence.
The only reason to make a booking here would be to play a cruel joke on your friends.
