This was a large (self-catering) apartment that is in a residential building within a 5 minute walk to the Cambridge train station. We paid about 80pounds for one night, and it was definitely a good value considering the amount of space - nice-sized bedroom with quality linens and a wardrobe, large living room-dining room combo with a fully-stocked kitchen attached (cookware, silverware, plates, range with oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, hot pot, even a dishwasher). There was even bread, milk, butter, and jams provided. There was a small flat-screen TV in the living room, but it was mounted in an awkward position so that it was hard to see it while sitting on the couch. Also, the power cable was disconnected and we had to search around before finally finding it in one of the cupboards. The apartment was a little drafty at times, but there were electric heaters that did a good job. There was no alarm clock or safe, but there was an iron/ironing board. The apartment was a short walk (maybe 15-20 minutes or so) to the colleges, and there were shops and restaurants nearby. Toiletries were not provided, and we actually ran out of toilet paper since there were not extra rolls to be found in the apartment. The double bed was actually two twin beds that were pulled together - a little uncomfortable at times. In summary, this is a large, recently renovated, spacious place that would be perfect if you plan on cooking a lot of your own meals.
