“A pub lover's pub”
Reviewed 10 August 2011

The Castle Inn delivers well on what it promises - pub "classics" like fish and chips, burgers and cheesy fries are done well and unfussily. As long as your not expecting a gourmet experience, you can't go wrong in this friendly little pub perched below castle hill.

“Excellent ale, food is just OK”
Reviewed 10 July 2011

The ale they serve is fantastic, the service is super friendly. The food is standard pub food, nothing special. I tried the rabbit pie, it was OK. The garden and the atmosphere were pretty nice.

“Best Burgers in Cambridge”
Reviewed 8 July 2011

This is the place to go if you want the best beef burgers in Cambridge. The burgers are home made from minced beef - non of the flat frozen burgers here. Served with blue cheese and a pineapple ring if you like that sort of thing - absolutely delicious and an incredibly reasonable price of around £3.75 (add £1.50 for chips). Fantastic value but be prepared to pay top price for real ales (£3.60/pint) as this is an Adnam's tied pub. Can get very busy at the week-ends.

“Everything you would want from a traditional food pub!”
Reviewed 2 May 2011

I'm not one for writing volumes do I'll keep this short... If you want a fabulous atmosphere, great value, tasty food that's served in good sized portions and friendly bar staff then The Castle is a pub for you! This place has cosy, intimate stings as well as larger rooms (upstairs) too so it's not only a great place for a couple but also for a group of mates. Highly recommended!!

“Pub fayre in traditional style pub under the castle mound”
Reviewed 4 May 2010

The Castle Inn is a collection of rooms joined into a traditional pub serving real ale (including the option to sample 3 x one third pints), reasonable wine list (including proper small glasses of wine - as well as medium and large) and a courtyard garden with views up to the castle mound. Had lunch here recently, good atmosphere and a pleasant meal - menu offers typical food you'd expect to find in a pub. Not cordon bleu but tasty & satisfying. Just slightly off the tourist trail in Magdelene Street and the river but worth a few minutes' walk.
