This boutique hotel renews my faith in the hotel industry with its excellent facilities and exceptional service levels. The best night's sleep ever, and perfect English breakfast. Terrific roof terrace with panoramic city views. Unassuming entrance to a secret world of hotelier excellence which the world's greatest boutique hotels would find hard to match. Utterly and unashamedly English and on-trend.

Recommend especially for the woman business traveller yearning for home comforts and a serene night's sleep away from ubiquitous business style hotels.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view over Cambridge university.

Really wonderful 2 night stay. Lovely room of a decent size with a balcony.

Pros: Staff are lovely, nice modern rooms with a Cambridge touch, great location, rooftop bar is a wonderful feature, nice hearty breakfasts, great gym and spa facilities which are lovely and relaxing

Cons: No parking, the only lift takes forever (the rooftop bar is also open to the public), entry to the breakfast room is through the spa which isn't ideal, no space in the bathroom for storage nor any minibar/fridge/little extras.

Overall I think it is on the pricey side, despite being lovely. It feels as though it's missing just the few extras that you get with a more established high end hotel. However, you can see how they can charge it given the real lack of many good alternatives in Cambridge and its location. I would definitely stay there again though!

We shared a meal at the hotel restaurant with 12 friends. Although the service was very good and friendly the food was very average and over priced. There is no car park. This was a special occason and they gave us a separate room which was very good.

Room Tip: We did not stay at the hotel - only ate in the restaurant

My wife and I stayed here in a double room for £205.00 per night. For that money it should have been a good 5 Star, it was not.
There was no Car Park, no direct access to the Spa or Restaurant, you had to go outside and back in again. There was a lift which was quite slow and it was much faster to walk, as the staff used it to transport dirty linen etc.
The bathroom sink was tiny and with the budget ideas of a central tap, with a glass shelf just above it, meaning that it was extremely difficult to get a wash, you know the idea? The toilet seat kept coming adrift somehow, strange. There was no mini bar, although there was a kettle, there were no biscuits. The little quality touches were just not there. There were 2 bath robes, but to expect people to walk outside in them to get to the spa, no chance.
The roof top lounge is open to the elements, whilst we were there it was blowing hard and cool, so 30 seconds and we were gone. The views are good though. There is a lounge bar on the 1st floor with general toilets on the 2nd floor only.
Rooms are generally of a 4 star standard of decor and fixtures/fittings, nothing special. Bathrooms are small with a bath/shower combination normally found in budget hotels, with tiny sink and a toilet.
We were offered a complimentary turn down of the room, accepted that, but did not notice that anyone had actually done anything?
Everything seemed to work. We had a view of a back street from our window.
The restaurant served good quality food, but you had to wait quite a time to get it. Our Chatea Briand Steak was good and priced at £47.00 for 2 to share.
For the money we expected much, much more. We have stayed in some wonderful hotels, a lot higher quality, for a lot less money.
We requested that some provision be made for a wheat and dairy intolerance at the restaurant, this was not done, but we did get a credit for our breakfast as an apology.
Cambridge itself was lovely and we had a tour on the river by Punt.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

Pros: Large room, comfortable bed, great pillows, large bathroom, best towels I've ever had in a hotel, beautiful property, good tea and coffee set up in room, great restaurant for breakfast, and a very nice gym.

Cons: door locks are difficult to operate, slow elevator, bathtub is very high (be careful when getting in and out), no bathroom space for toiletries, noise in the alley from the restaurant late at night, rooftop deck not available in morning.

All-in-all very pleased with the hotel. The rooms are large, modern, and clean. The restaurant next door serves a delicious full English breakfast, the gym is good, and staff is friendly.
TiP: If you want to do laundry nearby, ask for a taxi to "Clean Machine". It’s about 1.5miles away and bring change: 4 pounds per wash, 2 pounds per dry.
