“Lovely break”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

A lovely boutique hotel tucked away but within easy reach of the sights, shops, River Cam and all the other attractions in Cambridge. Very comfortable, clean room with excellent views. Breakfast very good. Staff all very friendly and courteous. Valet parking made life much easier and very welcome. Would certainly recommend the hotel to family and friends.

Stayed here one night and what a delight it was. Room had character and originality. Wonderfully laid out bathroom with separate bath and shower stall. Towels were thick, bed was extremely comfortable, great pillows and nice touches to the whole ambiance making it a room to relax in. Gym and modest spa (Jacuzzi overlooking the River Cam, very nice steam room and sauna), just around the corner through a separate entrance due to the hotel trying to maintain the architectural integrity of the original building. This is also where the restaurant is located. Very nice Continental breakfast with value priced additional options such as Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon all served with a smile by attentitive staff. Only let down was the fact that there is only one elevator and one reception clerk, which meant things were pretty slow in the morning during peak activity so be prepared if looking for a qucik checkout during the peak period

Room Tip: High rooms have good views and windows that open

Lovely classy place tucked away from the hustle of the city but right in the centre of everything. Valet parking made everything so much easier & the staff were all very helpful & friendly. The only drawback was having to go outside to access the restaurant for meals, spa & gym facilities. The Spa treatments made our stay particularly relaxing after days spent wandering around the city. Would stay here again without question & hopefully the rooftop bar will be open next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as high up as possible for the best views across the city rooftops from the Juliette...

Just got back from a 1 night stay with my wife as a quick break away from our 16month old.
The hotel itself really is lovely, the rooms, layout etc are fantastic and very well decorated.
The Spa next door and gym are also fantastic (had one of the best massages I've ever had), and weather permitting there is a gorgeous roof terrace that we were lucky enough to make the most of the first day, we also ate dinner in the restaurant and again had a great experience.
It's also so well located in terms of everything in the city is in walking distance!

There were however a couple of small things that could have been ironed out.
They offer a valet service which is great given the tricky job you have of navigating around the city by car, however until arrival I was unaware the service cost £19,50 per day......in fairness it does say this on their website but not very obvious.
The other thing that was a little frustrating, and may just be a bugbear of mine, but they only offer Breakfast until 10am.....I know that may be seen by many as perfectly acceptable but to be honest when you are paying substantial nightly rates I think or at 'Luxury' hotels I've never really understood why you shouldn't be able to have breakfast when you want

All in all small issues in what was in honesty a fantastic short stay and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor

This is a really great hotel in a fab location. It's a little bit pricey for what it is but it seems that Cambridge is just pricey. We managed to get a reduced room rate with a special and it made it really good value for money but paying full price would of been pricey. The staff are very friendly and very helpful and the valet parking is 100% value for money. The spa is also good. Continental breakfast was included and that was fab too. Overall it was a great night!!!!

This is the perfect spot for staying in Cambridge. It's right in the centre of town and on the river. Breakfast is served in the River Bar / Restaurant, and a table by the windows is a great place to sit and look out on the river and across to Magdalen College.

Rooms aren't huge but very nicely appointed and our room had a lovely view across the city. It is worth asking for a room on an upper floor.

Valet parking costs £19.50 and, as anyone who has been to Cambridge will know, parking can be a nightmare, so this is a sensible option as it can be even more costly to self-park.

The bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, including a cafetiere.
The roof terrace bar looks great with fantastic views over the city, but unfortunately wasn't open at the beginning of April. There is also a spa, which we only walked through to get to the river bar.

The hotel is quite expensive but is in the best location in town.

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor for great views.

I absolutely enjoyed my own night stay at this hotel in March. Very classy, wonderful personal service, a lovely room and right in the centre of the beautiful city.

The rooftop bar areas was closed during my trip but I was allowed to pop up and take a look at the views of the city. In good weather this would be a fantastic place to enjoy a drink or eat.

I absolutely recommend this hotel for it's all round value and truly first class service. I expect to return when a corporate client holds some events. It's soooo much nicer than the larger hotels.

Room Tip: Upgrade to one of the mid range rooms.
