The hotel is conveniently located near to the train station. The owners were very friendly and accomodating. I liked the fact the breakfast was cooked to order and so much better than buffet style. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Free fast wifi was well received.

We have stayed in quite a few hotels in Cambridge now and generally they are pretty good. What we loved about centennial was the personal touch! We were treated with such courtesy. They hotel is clean and comfortable. The rooms are not huge but are really comfy and, quite frankly, what do you want from a hotel but a comfy bed, which is provided! The restaurant and bar were excellent value and the wine was lovely. Very handy for addenbrokes

Unusually reasonably priced for Cambridge. I was there for a business meeting: most budget / business hotels were £120+ (some were over £200 which is ludicrous for a basic business hotel midweek), so £90 was fine.

Convenient: short walk to railway station.

Clean, friendly, efficient. Internet worked fine.

The decor is rather chintzy / dated and looks faded but really, who cares? I was there for a meeting, not to enjoy the design of the hotel lobby.

Another good thing: it is walking distance to railway station. Many of the business hotels are out of town which adds taxi fares to the cost.

I wouldn't make a point of seeking it out, but if I need to stay in Cambridge then I wouldn't object to staying there again (especially given relative proices).

The sign outside the hotel appears to have a picture of the Grim Reaper on it...well, the hotel isn't quite as bad as that. There seems to have been a bit of refurbishing recently, but the overall impression is still a bit dingy and depressing...it's like a trip back to the 70s
The rooms are small - I was travelling on my own, and the twin room I was given was OK, but it would have been cramped for two. The bed was not very comfortable (mattress too soft), and the shower was only so-so (although there was a good-sized bath as well). The breakfast was distinctly poor (don't eat the sausage!!).
There are some good points: the staff were pleasant, and the location is convenient for the station while also being easy walking distance from the town centre. Although the hotel is poor value, this is not at all unusual in Cambridge, where demand is high and the competition is not fierce. If you decide to visit Cambridge (and I recommend you do - it's a lovely town), you might do best to stay outside town and travel in for the day.

Room Tip: Make sure you aren't given a room on the top floor.

We had to visit Cambridge for a team meeting, and our company booked this hotel for several employees. I read the hotel’s reviews before arriving, and was quite concerned about what I was about to find. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience.
The bad: rooms are worn and outdated, and relatively small. The breakfast is a bit basic, and doesn’t offer much choice. It has no elevators, so if you are carrying heavy bags, request a ground floor bedroom.
The good: I was lucky, and my bathroom was new. The hotel was clean, had good internet connection and the people who work at there are really nice. All of them went out of their way to make sure we had a nice and comfortable stay: from providing an iron and an iron board to allowing us to check in earlier than expected, they all made sure we had our needs met.
Overall, this is not the best hotel you will stay at, but definitely it is not the worst.

Room Tip: Request room 202: it has a renovated bathroom

The problem with Cambridge is its severe lack of hotels, especially properties from the larger chains. I stayed at the Centennial Hotel towards the end of September as all my usual choices for business were full or charging ridiculously high rates. Our travel agent managed to book me in here.

The young gentleman who checked me in was efficient and personable; the lady who checked me out was efficient, but nothing more.

My room, on the ground floor, next to the main staircase was very small. You could hardly squeeze down one side of the bed. One of the bedside lights didn't work and I suspect the lack of electric points in the room meant this one was never plugged in. The bed was comfortable though, though with a firm mattress with similar pillows.

The TV was OK but had a number of dead channels.

The bathroom was small and dated, with a noisy extractor fan and there was no shower curtain or screen and no proper shower fitting, just a short "hair washing" hose attached to the main taps. Now a standard stand-up shower is a given nowadays, so the lack of one is a severe failing in my opinion. Given the income this hotel must raise from the high rates this hotel is able to charge due to the issue with supply and demand in Cambridge, there is no excuse not to have fitted the bathrooms with them by now. The bathroom sink was also very small, more the size of those you find in your cloakroom at home, so not really suitable for a hotel room.

I mentioned my room was by the stairs. In the end, this didn't prove to be a problem, it being a weekday night, but I fear the loud creaking sound from people going up and down the staircase might be a major issue on a weekend.

Breakfast is served in the small-ish lower ground floor dining room. The service was pleasant, and the selection wasn't too bad, but the ingredients could have been of a higher quality.

Reading other reviews, I was concerned about what I would find here. I believe I had a better stay than many, although this isn't a hotel I could recommend at present, at least not for a business traveller.

friendly people, it was clean, but it just had that smell of dust and wood and varnish....

for £40 you would accept it, for £100 you are having a giraffe - it is unacceptable to charge this much money for such a basic hotel.

unfortunately with the accomodation in Cambridge you cn get away with this

Room Tip: go to another hotel
