“Go Somewhere else!!!!”
Reviewed 23 July 2012

Went here for a girls weekend, room was overpriced, we asked for double beds and got twins. Rooms were small, and walls were paper thin, I could hear people sneezing in the room next to us. Maids tried to come in and clean our room twice before 10 am and check out was at 12. Had problems opening the pull out couch and reception was rude when we called about it, and the guy who came to help us had what looked like a mixed alcohol drink in his hand and was very short and rude. I will not only not stay here again but I will spend an hour of my time writing bad reviews for this hotel wherever I can! Trust me you can find WAY better and nicer hotels for $300+ a night!

stayed here a couple of nights for business. i've been to cambridge a number of times now, so know the place quite well.

the location of the hotel is very good. nestled away by the Cam River but within walking distance to most places you'd want to visit in Cambridge. Additionally, the hotel is away from the noisiest parts of the city so you will get a good night's rest in very comfortable beds.

Breakfast is good. Not a huge spread to choose from, but adequate.

Internet cost GBP15.00 for 24hrs which is a complete rip-off but indicative of the fact most people staying on business would have to pay this and put them on expenses.

I was here for a 2-day conference and the facilities were good. The meeting rooms we used all faced the river and there was plenty of natural light which helped keep many of us awake ;)

All in all, this is a typical Hilton hotel with no nasty shocks or surprises. Expect the usual Hilton prices too!

Great location in this historical and beautiful town. The hotel is right on the river and walking distance to all major sites, yet tucked away enough to feel very private. The staff was very attentive. The parking was perfect and very inexpensive for the area. The room was amazing and was overlooking the Thames. What more can I say. The room was well appointed, very clean and top notch. We had requested an esaver upgrade on the Hilton site when booking and we got it. Our room was a top floor corner suite with a wrap aound terrace. Great luxury, great price and great location. All around a perfect stay. By the way, the breakfast was great. I had read a review that said it was bad. Ours was included as a Diamond member, but paying or not, it was a very good buffet breakfast. We were here as a couple but it would be great for a family trip as well.
We did a pont tour along the river. It was great. If you can, do the private version.

Room Tip: Facing the river. We had requested an e-saver upgrade on the Hilton Honors site and got it. Well wor...

My husband and I (early 20s) stayed at the Doubletree for a weekend getaway. I must say it is excellently located.. close to the botanic gardens, corpus christi, kings college and town centre, and is better presented inside then out.

We arrived before check in and were able to park our car in the car park whilst we went to visit the town. One of the very few negatives about this hotel is the high car park prices (£17.50 per day! )- but we were allowed to park there from early Saturday to midnight on Sunday. When we came back to check in (at 3pm), check in was extremely quick and we were given 2 huge chocolate and nut freshly baked cookies which were lovely.

I was exceptionally happy with my room size -(see pics). The bed was also huge and comfy but did have bit of a bump down the middle -where we found two singles were pushed together.
We specifically chose the doubletree for its extra facilities/ health centre and were extremely happy with the swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Although all were small in size - there was hardly anyone using them. The changing rooms also had a water extractor which was good as we didn't have to carry wet clothes through the hotel.

Room service charges were too high for us and had a £5 tray charge, so we opted to have food delivered to the hotel - which was fine. The room TV was HD and along with Freeview had a selection of movies to watch - costing £5-£6 each. One other negative was that at 1am we could hear conversations from the next room - they were so loud we could actually hear word for word the entire conversation.

Breakfast the next morning was included in our deal and was superb. There was a variety of cereals, dried fruits, yogurts, fresh fruit, hot food, hot drinks and juices.
The hotel overlooks the river cam and you can see the punts go by as you swim or have breakfast.

Overall a fabulous stay and would definitely recommend. See pics.

I was a guest at a wedding in a nearby college which was why I chose the hotel. We had to change rooms as we couldn't get hot water in the hand basin of the first room. However, the staff were very helpful about that and comped one day's parking.

The hotel decor is tired and one gets the impression that it trades on its location. As another reviewer says, there are too many extras to pay for: breakfast, parking, wifi, no newspaper. In that context the hotel is poor value.

While most staff were very nice, one of the bar staff on the Friday night was resentful and grumpy.

Hilton, you can do better than this.

Great location on the river Cam where there are all kinds of running paths, restaurants, pubs, site seeing, punting, and fabulous shopping nearby. We didn't have a car and didn't need one for our week long stay with everything so convenient. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and the wait staff very accommodating and cordial. Yummy sticky toffee pudding! Room was comfortable, spacious and clean. No complaints! Would most definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room. Lovely to watch the weddings, people and even fireworks on the Cam.
