Stayed there on for a weekend in November. Got the room on a flash sale. Room was nice. Breakfast was very good, with a wide range of food. Bar staff are very slow, even when empty! Good location with not far to walk to town. Would stay again if needed to.

I was there last year on a business trip and my best friend recommended me to stay at Doubletree by Hilton. Quite impressive accommodation with great services and facility. The location is closed by everything. The breakfast is excellent. The most impressive point would be their welcome signature homemade chocolate chips cookies....really yummy

Really nice hotel but watch out for the car park charge £17:50 per night and wi fi £15:00 per day why charge for wi fi ?

When will these Hotels realize that they alienate their guests with these scandalous charges why not just add them in to the room rate.

We ate in the hotel on the first evening and we were the only guests booked in for the evening surely this would also indicate to the management that their prices were excessive and not worth the money.

As usual with most British hotels nowadays there was a communication breakdown with the staff at breakfast time, when we requested some brown sauce though on show no one understood the word brown! or HP

Room Tip: Book a riverside view (breathtaking!!)

Dear thomas I
Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking time to leave a review. I was sorry to read of your disagreement with our car park charges. These charges are comparable to other major city centre car parking charges and to that of the alternative option for a guest in using a NCP car park in Cambridge. It is also a very compatible value for many as guests can leave the car from the early hours of the day checking in and for the remaining of the day after they have checked out. We do ensure that these charges are clearly advertised both at the entrance to the car park and also on our own and third party booking websites so that alternate arrangements can be made if necessary.
With regards to your comment about the WiFi charges, not all of our guests use the internet whilst at the hotel and therefore we think that we shouldn’t penalise them by including this charges into the room rate reason why we charge them separately. However, we do offer complimentary use of our Business centre on the ground floor, with free use of our computers, printing and WiFi access. My apologies if this was not explained to you on check in.
I can only hope that these issues and the small incident in the restaurant would not have marred your stay with us and we hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

We have stayed several times at the Doubletree by Hilton Cambridge and have never been disappointed. The location is great for the City and the views over the river and the punting station are wonderful.
The breakfast is particularly good with a great choice of fruits, pancakes, granola etc and all the usual hot food.
It has excellent car parking and of course you get the usual warm cookie on arrival.
The bar and lounge are very comfortable and welcoming.
I noted the comment in a review about the stair carpet being frayed on the first set of stairs and this is true.
It is not cheap but we paid in advance to get a price that was a lot less than some paid in other reviews.

Room Tip: Views over the river

This hotel nearly has all the ingredients to be a great hotel (fantastic locations, large rooms, good service) but it falls down on the quality of the building itself. This place should have been freshened up ten years ago, and it really shows. The carpets on the stairs are so frayed that you see straight through to the stone steps beneath. The rooms are decidedly tired. On the bright side, the location is fabulous (get a room with a river view if you can), the restaurant is nice and the staff do their best. There is a small swimming pool, but the time that I went down to it, it was being used for a mothers-and-babies swimming class. The gym looked decent though.
So, in short, if you are going to be spending most of your time out and about enjoying the wonders of Cambridge, then this place is fine. If you are going to be spending time indoors in the hotel, you might get disappointed.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on this website. I am glad that you enjoyed our central location and service. I duly noted your comment about the refurbishment needed in the hotel. We did a mayor refurbishment of the hotel 6 years ago and now we are redecorating all the bedrooms and corridors, this will take please gradually business permitting. In the interim, we hope that you will return to the hotel in the not too distant future.

I stayed here for 3 nights for a business trip.

Have stayed here previously and love its location next to the river and easy walking distance to the city centre.

However I did have some issues this stay. I had asked for a quiet room at the end of the corridor on the highest floor available. When I checked in, I was allocated room 108 which was right opposite the doors were all guests needed to come through to access the first floor. After I mentioned this, I was then allocated room 115 which was a bit further along the corridor.

I found in the bathroom that the shower head and shower hose were full of limescale and that the shower hose had a leak near the head. It also looked like the toilet needed a good scrub as that look like it had limescale (or possibly worse!) issues.

When I went to pick up a magazine off the table, I found a previous occupier's sweet there!

On all 3 nights, I seemed to be aware of what sounded like air conditioning units running which did disrupt my sleep.

Couldn't fault the standard of food there but wish they would bring cafetieres of coffee at breakfast rather than filter coffee in flasks.

You do pay alot to stay here so you would expect everything to be top notch.

Thank you for your comments on this website. Your observations and opinions are appreciated, as they enable us to access the standard of our facilities and services and monitor if we are meeting guests needs and expectations. Firstly, our apologies for the confusion with your room allocation upon arrival, I am glad this could be shorted. Also, please accept our sincere apology for the poor level of cleanliness found in the bathroom, Cambridge is a hard water area and this marks are most probably due to limescale, however this is completely unacceptable and I will make sure our Head Housekeeper is aware of this issue and immediate action and further training are carried out so that this situation does not recur in the future. Thank you again for staying with us at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cambridge, we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Cambridge is right at your doorstep in this hotel, with a wonderful location on the river just along from St Catherine's and Kings' Colleges and the shopping area of town. Our room overlooked the river (worth the extra cost since some rooms at the rear of the hotel do not have much in the way of views) and was well appointed with excellent beds and a smallish but good bathroom. The restauant and bar were very pleasant overlooking the well tended riverside gardens of the hotel. Food was good, with a well provisioned breakfast array. Only problem was that all the restaurant staff were non English meaning that a couple were unable to describe certain items on the menu at dinner. The carpark is convenient, but the daily charge of 17.50 pounds is, in my opinion, exorbitant.
