I have been staying here twice a year for a number of years. Once again, we had a wonderful weekend. The front of house staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Service in the breakfast area was fabulous! How anybody can complain about the breakfast is beyond me. The room was splendid, tidy, and clean. We were able to take out 5YO to the swimming pool. The location was ideal with Scudamores just along the way if you fancy punting. The car park is just under £20 a night which is a lot, but you would pay more at other city locations.

I am always struck by how young and professional the staff are. A number of staff have been there for a number of years: a good measure of quality.

It is an expensive hotel, but so is Cambridge as a whole.

Another great stay. We book again now for 4 days in the Summer.

Room Tip: Simply ask the helpful and knowledgeable staff if you need something. They will oblige if they can.

We are thrilled to see that you had such a super stay and that you enjoyed the room, breakfast and swimming pool, as well as our perfect location, Scudamores just a stone throw away and the convenience that is our car park. But what we are most pleased about is your great comments about the team members, they are as you rightly mentioned very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Some of them have been here for many years, I have been working here for 10 years myself and still enjoying every minute of it and very proud too!
We are really looking forward to welcoming you back in the summer when we trust you will have another great stay!

The room was very poorly prepared with inadequate soap, etc, and was very small. The curtains were inadequate in blocking light. Having an open mini-bar with a charge if the contents were moved is a scam. I expect at least complementary water. The razor electric point was blocked and would accept the plug. We gave reception a letter which has not arrived after two weeks. in Kent, not posted!. A huge disappointment. It's not the Garden House we remember. Poor management.

Thank you for your review. We are really sorry to read that you were so disappointed with your overall stay at the hotel. We will address immediately your valuable comments about the room amenities as these should have been catered for accordingly. With regards to your comment about the curtains, these are only dress curtains, behind these there are black-out curtains that fully open and close, I am sorry if this was not clear enough nor explained to you on arrival by our receptionist. I can only hope that this did not disturb your sleep too much.
I was also sorry to read that the letter you asked us to post has not yet arrived, as you might recognise, I see no reason why this would have not left the hotel in time, maybe there is elsewhere to look for faults.
Once again, I thank you for your time in leaving a review and assure you that we will address all of your comments accordingly in the hope that you will give us a second chance and return to the hotel when I am sure you will have a most enjoyable stay at the DoubleTree Cambridge. Looking forward to having you with us in the future.

staff excellent location excellent Food in the "Marco Pierre" less than good. Be careful when giving pre-authorisation at check in, on leaving the hotel I paid all my account in full after a 4 night stay, which was debited from my account, they then claimed all the pre-authorsed payments, debiting my account with a further €2800.00 (not good in my eyes)

Sorry to read your comments about the pre-authorisation process, when a card is pre-authorised on check in no money is taken from our side just put on hold until check out. Unfortunately, with international banks this takes a few days to clear, I am certain that by now the holding should have been cleared off your account. Alternatively, please kindly contact the hotel directly and we will endeavour to solve this immediately.

We stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Cambridge for a sunny week-end early June and were pleased by the location by the river and the tables set outside for either drinks or snacks. A bit disappointed that we were presented with the restaurant menu but none of it could be served outside. The room itself was nice, with river view, but the bathroom and the bed/furniture all seemed like they need a "refresh" to match the expected standing of the hotel and to match the rate they are asking for it... Lastly, as there was a wedding that night, the noise level was very high unluckily, even late into the night. This should be mentioned during the booking if there is a wedding planned in the hotel.

This hotel has the best position in Cambridge; it's worth booking a room with a balcony overlooking the Cam, but it does cost a lot! MPW restaurant is also very good but again pricey. Staff were very good-helpful reception and concierge. Good service in the bar and restaurant.

We went to the Hilton Doubletree as a good central location allowed us to stay near to our party held nearby - excellent service before and during stay - valet parking, helpful concierge, busy hotel with loads of events on but still welcomed.
