This place is the best location you can get in Cambridge. Unbelievable scenes right next to the river. The hotel is outstanding, staff so friendly and professional. The restaurant is so elegant with the food quite simply perfect. Can have no complaints during our stay.....would recommend this hotel to anyone......superb........Normally a a magical hotel requires a 9 and 3/4's mark out of 10 but we have to rank this one at 10!! Many thanks Matt and Amy Pilkington

great location. Overall good service (for breakfast), problems with sink and cleanliness of rooms, elevators often not in service because of maintenance. Hotel needs to upgrade cleanliness in rooms and exterior. Throw away roll-out bed from sofa in room 101

If you really want to feel you are staying in Cambridge, look no further than the Doubletree. It is situated directly on the Cam and you can watch people punting, canoeing and kayaking directly in front of you. There are beautiful fens (fields) beyond the river and you have a distinctly rural England feel. The gardens that are on the river are very very popular for afternoon tea and gatherings over a beer in the evening. They also have outdoor dining.
If you pull yourself away fro this bucolic setting you will find yourself a less than 5 minute walk from Kings Parade and Trinity Place which are the main streets in Cambridge. The most popular colleges to visit are mostly along these streets. Also a five minute walk to the Fitzwilliam Museum.
The rooms are average size for UK hotels and are equipped with flat screen TVs with lots of satellite channels. A mini bar/fridge is also in the room. Its the type that you are not to move anything otherwise you will get charged but I put fruit in it and moved some bottles and did not get charged as I did not drink them, just moved them. The bed was very comfortable.
I had a balcony looking over the gardens and the river and did use it quite a bit as the weather was beautiful.
They are not stingy with the cookies and so I asked for one every evening before retiring. They were warm and delicious. A great way to end wonderful days in Cambridge.

Room Tip: Ask for a ooom that overlooks the river

excellent service from reception- consierge -restaurant staff -view of the river was lovely- hotel food excellent -my daughter and I had lovely- chill weekend together-we enjoyed a few delish mojitos -whilst being entertained by the people punting on the river -was not quite brave enough to go punting on the river by ourselves - so took the public punt along the river .

Fabulous riverside location with easy access to this beautiful town. Friendly/helpful staff and a breakfast to last the whole day! The family room we'd booked had a balcony which although didn't overlook the river offered a great outdoor space. Noisy ventilation system on the 3rd floor meant our sleep experience wasn't as good as we'd liked.

This hotel is situated at the side of the river in Cambridge City centre. It has it's own car park which is chargeable but it's to be expected! We had a room over looking the river with a balcony. Great for relaxing on. Comfortable bed and nice modern bathroom. We had a good breakfast in the restaurant and, after shopping, a nice coffee in the garden. A nice walk to get to the centre of Cambridge. Kings College is just 5 minutes away as is the main shopping centre. Watch out for sat-nav directions as they try and take you down bus only roads. Follow the hotels instructions.

Room Tip: I think the river view rooms are worth the extra cost.

The pros: great location on the Cam, where you can watch punts float by, and cows in the fens; smart. elegant furnishings; efficient staff.

The cons: the rooms are small, and the corridors a touch faded; it's a touch expensive.

Overall, if you are not on a tight budget, it's definitely worth considering, on the understanding you won't be staying in a spacious palace.
