What a super hotel! From the moment we arrived the discreet but efficient and friendly attention of the staff made us feel truly valued guests. We stayed in feature room 807 with a view over the garden. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with an exceptionally comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent as was the bar in the evening. Entertaining bar staff and knowledgeable, accommodating concierge and reception staff.
Book a Bentley tour. A fun way to get a overview of the city and they take pictures for you too which is a nice touch. Tried our hand at cycling on a hotel tandem - a novel, fun experience although requires a bit of communication to stop! All in all we hope to return but next time with the children in tow.

The Gonville is very well located - opposite Parkers Pieces and a short (10 min) walk into the centre of town. Staff are welcoming and the room is beautifully appointed. Bicycles are available for guests to use FOC. We really enjoyed Elliot's tour of Cambridge from the back seat of one of the hotel's vintage Bentley's. Fun hour spent getting a local's perspective and seeing even more architectural gems. Some fantastic photos as a result. Thanks!

We booked a last minute stay in Cambridge to celebrate my daughters GCSE results so we wanted it to be special and create memories. It delivered. From the initial call to book our room (Lexi is a star) to checking out, the service could not be better. Special mention to Elliot who drove us around Cambridge in one of the hotel’s 2 Bentleys! Yes, really! What a font of knowledge. More on that later...
Rooms are excellent, unique and fun with great beds. Breakfast was good, especially when ordered from the menu.
Brilliant location. The hotel has complimentary bikes you can ride into Cambridge (literally 10 mins). We spent hours on the bikes riding to the Colleges, along the river. What good old fashioned fun. We punted down the river, again, organised by the hotel staff. We crammed so much into a 1 night stay!!! Would love to go back and experience it all again and the spa which we didn’t get time for!
Ok, touring around Cambridge city centre for an hour in a classic Bentley makes you feel like a superstar! Goodness knows how many photos were taken of us as we pulled over! The smiles greeting us as they saw this beautiful car. These touches make the hotel unique.
We will return. It’s an experience not to be missed.

Our visit was at the height of a busy August bank holiday. Dog in tow we had two rooms and can honestly say it was one of the best places I've stayed. It is made great by the lovely friendly efficient staff, Liam (occasionally called Jo!) at the bar was perfect, Chenece brilliant with service and advice. The dog had the time of her life was fussed ans spoilt and all in all I cannot recommend this place enough for value for money and service provided. Room not huge but then we had the basic double room, it did have everything we needed and any extras were immediately brought along by hotel staff at no cost. Food was excellent, especially the breakfasts.

Please stay here if you can.

A fabulous hotel minutes away from the centre. The feature rooms are quietly located in the Gresham house annexe which is in the garden of the hotel. We did not eat at the hotel as we had other plans but the breakfast looked lovely and appeared to be served to your table rather than a buffet, which is a pleasure in itself. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and obviously take great pride in working at such a beautiful hotel. Perhaps more so as the hotel is privately owned. This shows in the little touches of luxury. Complimentary home made biscuits, turn down service with chocolates and the toiletries in the room were all Espa! Through the hotel you are able to book punting,( we did and it was fabulous), enjoy complimentary use of their bikes and the extra special touch is a ride around Cambridge in the Bentley. Our chauffeur was Elliot. He is a font of knowledge and gave a really informative tour of this beautiful city, the history of the colleges and of some of the better known scholars who have attended. He was happily prepared to drop us at our destination for lunch. This in itself made our trip to Cambridge very special and one we will not forget.
