Just returned from four nights at Lensfield. Second stay at this location. Assisting my daughter set up her room during the next three yrs in graduate school. Room: twin with tiny ensuite. Neat and clean but extreme problem with heat in the room. Hotel provided small fan but it made such a racket it was useless. Four days with window open just made it bearable. Breakfast: tidy basement breakfast room with everything you'll need for a complete a satisfying meal. Waitresses were fast and efficient. Reception: quick and pleasant. Able to handle any questions. Location: outstanding for University visitors. Can walk everyplace (as my blisters will attest to).

We stay at the beginning of each term in Cambridge when dropping our son off at college and always struggle to find somewhere that accepts one night bookings only but we found the Lensfield and although we dubious of booking the hotel because of previous reviews, we need not have worried. The location is excellent, staff helpful and the rate was good.
Our room was clean with everything we needed- TV, coffee, tea etc, towels, toiletries etc with a decent en-suite.
The breakfast was excellent. We cannot fault it and if we can get the same rate again next term we will certainly book

We normally like the smaller hotels, but not this one. We booked 2 rooms, and they put 1 on one side of the hotel and 1 on the other, where we had to go down 2 flights of stairs and back up 2 to get to our kids' room. We were told they had AC but one room did not and the fan didn't work. The shower sprayed water all over the bathroom so that we had to use towels to soak up the floor, the room was very small and cluttered, bed was not comfy. The person that checked us in did not provide clear information on the parking sticker and we got a ticket. We went in to clarify with Theoni Paschalis and she told us that we were wrong, their person would not have done anything wrong and then she followed up with a very nasty email to us saying "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD I STATE I WOULD FILL THIS PERMIT IN FOR YOU AND RESENT THAT YOUR WIFE HAS ACCUSED ME OF THIS TO MY MANAGER AND TO ME RE HER HOSTILE MANNER & PHONE CALL." Sorry, I wasn't hostile, and I had a witness that heard the conversation as well where she said she would fill in the permit. I have never been so rudely treated by someone in the "hospitality" industry. Needless to say, I promised I would write a review for Tripadvisor, so here it is!!

Room Tip: Choose a room in a different hotel. This was our last night in the UK and this hotel was the worst...

We stayed here for one night recently and booked in with our six month old for which there was no travel cot or high chair - boo. I did find the bed really uncomfortable (it was a really hard mattress, squeezed in alongside a flailing baby) BUT I have to say the staff were really lovely which made up for a lot! They were attentive and helpful and a joy to chat with. Not sure we'd stay again but that's mainly down to the fact that it's probably better for older families or couples. In parts the decor is a little old too which we didn't mind since we were out and about being tourists/in a conference for most of the time.

excellent stay. staff helpful. breakfast very good. very clean. surprised at recent comments. couldn't fault any of it. stayed for 3 days and enjoyed all of it had problems with lights but was dealt with immediately would certainly return. you cant stay in older building and not expect problem. it is how they deal with it makes the difference in my case no concerns whatsoever. housekeeping certainly know what they are doing.

Room Tip: stayed in 131 and it was very comfortable. fuse for electrics went and it was dealt with immediately

Lensfield Hotel we visited for just one night. We were made very welcome by all staff and the room was in keeping with the standards expected by the staff. Very good! Air con kept us cool.
I would say all aspects of our stay were a pleasure.
Staff at breakfast were perhaps 'a little over zealous in their helpfulness!,'but the food was fresh and plentiful.
As a bonus they were very efficient in sending me by post, a forgotten 'I phone' plug and connector to my home.

Had a hen party of 12 stay here and none of us could find fault! The rooms were spacious, spotless and exactly what you'd expect from such a reasonably priced place! Staff couldn't have done more... Would highly recommend
