This pub has been my regular for many years now, and during that time I have seen a few changes (not always for the better) and a few landlords come and go. In recent months, it has been taken over again and wow, it's probably the best it's ever been. The food is both simple and truly amazing; all cooked fresh from scratch in the refurbished and scrubbed kitchen. The staff are lovely, friendly but still remain professional and they don't form their own little clique, which I've often seen happen here before and in other pubs, which puts punters off I think. The landlord is also warm and welcoming.

However, if you're looking for a raucous boozer on a Friday / Saturday night this is probably not for you. The pub plays music but it's kept at a low, background level so you can chat with people you're with without having to shout. The pub quiz (Thurs eve) and jazz night (Sun eve) are both a fun night out.

All in all, the Clary is now everything I want from my local and more. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been, or if you have and were put off by how it was previously I'd highly recommend that you give it a second chance; you won't be disappointed!

Well what a difference a day makes. not literally, the Clarendon arms has had it's new owner for some time and they have changed it a lot. There is the same great jazz and quiz nights but added fantastic ranges of beer and cider from all over. The menu has become something you would want to eat. Sunday roasts are like a good family dinner. The atmosphere has become a warm, welcoming and eclectic. The decor is the same but looks like it has had a good scrub. Leaving me feeling like i've been here before but i can't put my finger on it.

The Clarendon is a traditional pub in a locals street though no more than ten minutes' walk from the city centre. Well worth it for a quiet drink and if you like jazz then please support the gig that's held each Sunday evening from 8.30pm. No entry fee and one of the last remaining free music sessions in Cambridge.
Had an indifferent meal here recently, my veggie option was defintely prepackaged and from the freezer. It had not been warmed through properly. The chef did replace the dish, apologise profusely and knock the cost off our bill but it will take a while before I want to eat here again. My partner's meat oriented meal was home prepared and better though not a wow.
The landlord is attentive and friendly, the type of bar service where you can order "the same again" which is becoming rarer.
