This hotel is good value. Prices around this district are high and I did not expect so much. But it surprised me. A big car park, that most other hotels charge for, was available. I had a room facing the road and the river, good fun! I could have my cup of tea and look out on the river and the people walking by.

Breakfast has, as you can read in the reviews, mainly cheese. I did spot some marmite. The rooms are reasonable, my bathroom did not smell nice but the room was fine. A single room consisting of a comfortable chair (near the window so I could watch the people passing by) a desk and cabbet. Fine.

Again, location is great.

Room Tip: If traffic bothers you it would be a good idea to book a room at the back.

Location is nice, centre of Cambridge on walking distance (although on a rather busy road) and hotel has ample parking space. But that ends all positive to say about this hotel. Room and bed small for a double room. Room had a distinctive stale smell, even the next day after having had the window open all the night. Staff uninspiring and not very hospital. A family next to us was refused warm breakfast because they ordered it at 10.00 and the kitchen closed at 10.00. We felt unwanted and overcharged. Pity, because the hotel has good potential. But I advice to avoid it as long as there is no change in management. Every b&b in Cambridge will probably give you better service, better room and better facities against much lower prices.

Great location, free parking and very clean. Room small and quite hot in this weather

Breakfast terrible, had to point out mould on the brown bread. Continental is a bit of an exaggeration, where were the meats and cheese choices?

Go on give everyone the English breakfast they have pretty much paid fir already instead of trying to charge an extra £7.95 and your ratings will go up!

We stayed in the coach house in the back of the hotel car park. Our room was immaculate (as was the whole hotel) and beds were very comfortable. We found it quiet and a night's sleep was had.
It was very hot however, a fan in the room would have been helpful.
The continental breakfast was quite limited and had a few problems like very hot water glasses and melted butter on the fresh tables which could be a bit of a health hazzard.
The staff all seemed slightly overworked and the breakfast staff in particular seemed quite stressed and looked annoyed if you bothered them.
A few niggles really that a little bit of further training and a few more staff could sort out but mostly a nice little hotel.

From the outside it looks a good hotel, but then for the overpriced charge one was put in the coach house at the back. Service at the hotel was just OK. The breakfast was continental and one had to pay extra for a full breakfast. There was nothing bad about staying here but I can't recommend this hotel because I have had a lot better for a lot less.

We stayed at the Arundel having originally booked their sister, and much scruffier, Ashley hotel because of its location near Midsummer house restaurant. I suppose we were lucky to get a room, on the top floor, no lift, overlooking a very busy road and no air conditioning. We had lunch in the conservatory and felt very sorry for the two members of staff who did a stirling job in what was a very busy area, something was going on in the restaurant and of course it seemed that the management had made no allowances for this. Anyway you live and learn so we won't make the same mistake again. I've just read two other reviews which bear out mine, nice to see other people think the same.

Room Tip: What ever you do ask for a room at the back, unless its the middle of winter and you don't want...

Arrived in the middle of this heatwave to be given a top floor room in the 'coach house' - sauna would have been a better description - no air conditioning or even a fan. After complaining to 2 very indifferent reception staff the general manager relocated us to a room in the main hotel. Still no air conditioning but at least she gave us a fan (brownie points for customer service). The room was clean and had a nice view over the park across the road. There was a bit of traffic noise but considering how close the hotel is in real terms to the city centre it wasn't too bad. The free WiFi did NOT work at all in this room so we had to use our laptops in the reception area (remove brownie points). Breakfast was ok although the stale croissants were a bit of a let down and the legions of waiting staff, while very pleasant, couldn't organise to keep the buffet stocked with basics such as glasses (remove more brownie points). I then had the misfortune to move to a single room at the back of the hotel. Clearly management don't check on cleaning as this room had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and an ensuite which had not been cleaned properly. To top things off I spend 2 nights listening to other 'guests' slamming doors morning, noon and night. So summing up if you want to stay near the city centre, get free parking for your stay, don't mind a basic continental breakfast or paying about 150 pounds per night for a double, dodgy WiFi, unbearable heat if the outside temperature gets over 25*, oh and listening to selfish people slamming doors when it is perfectly possible to close doors quietly then THIS is the hotel for you. If like me you are not keen on the last five points then look elsewhere!

Room Tip: Maybe top floor with no other guests around you would be best and bring a fan in summer.
