Stayed here for one night, thankfully. We booked a double room but quite frankly it was more suitable for one person. The bed itself was quite comfortable but unfortunately it was the smallest double I've ever tried to sleep in. Neither of us could move without catching each other hence a very poor nights sleep. Thankfully the room was at the back of the hotel so noise was reduced. We couldn't open the bathroom door fully because the bed was too close. A double socket behind the bedside table did not work so we ended up plugging the kettle into a socket behind the dressing table but had leave the kettle on the floor because the flex was too short. The floorboards creaked, so I pitied those in the room below. Overall the room was in need of updating. The cooked breakfast was self service but could have done to be hotter. The dining room was very nicely decorated as was reception.

Room Tip: If you want a roomy double bed ask at the time of booking to avoid disappointment. We must have got...

Noisy rooms, paper thin walls, lumpy uncomfortable bed. Would not return.
Breakfast is rigidly served with no flexibility to provide anything earlier.
Parking is effectively road side and seems insecure.

Close enough to the centre with rooms that are clean and have all you need.

Staff are very friendly, breakfast is better than most in Cambridge.

I've stayed for 2 weeks with work and will be booking in for 2 more - says it all.

Very convenient for The Junction, we only stayed overnight, but this hotel ticked al our boxes. Yes, the decor is faded but the staff were attentive and the breakfast couldn t be faulted and there was room to park our bicycles. Will use Helen Hotel again.
OPPS the pools cores terrible as there wasn t one, and once the box was ticked I was unable to alter my review, sorry!

I am a student and the price is reasonable for me.I booked a double room for me and my friend,we were both quite satisfied with it.
Helen is a bit far from the centre but sill INSIDE the campus, but there is a small shopping mall around, only 5 minustes walk.Helen might look plain and small from the outside but they really prepare everything you may need. The room was clean and tidy, the sevices were very nice, and I love the breakfast, lots of options. For a poor student traveller like me,it was a FEAST !!! Itwas a small buffet, and the food were tasty.
Overall,I think Helen is far more valued than its price!!!!highly recommend!!!!!

Stayed here for 4 nights at end of July as we had tickets for the Cambridge Folk Festival. Conveniently located for this as half way between the city centre and Cherry Hinton (which is about 30 mins walk away). It runs like a well oiled machine that could do with a good overhaul. Décor exceedingly tired. Breakfast ticks all the boxes but quality and imagination is lacking. There are other fruits apart from apples and oranges, especially in the height of summer! It's run efficiently but impersonally, hardly surprising with the high turnover of guests but we had the feeling of being processed. Great help was the fan in the room and also we managed to park there without moving for 4 days.

The exterior of this hotel is a little off-putting, but don't let that deter you. Inside, the rooms are individual, clean and attractive, if a tiny bit tired. The staff are excellent - friendly, accommodating and pleased to see you. It's a welcoming place. Reasonable facilities in the rooms, traditional straightforward but very good breakfast, served with a smile. Ten minute walk from the station, twenty into town, but there are buses which run right outside.
