This hotel is pretty dated on the inside. We paid GBP149 for one of the executive 3rd floor rooms. The room was clean and basic. Breakfast was 'continental only' and very bad. Cold croissants etc, bad coffee, cheap bread. we gave up and went to Starbucks which is a 5 min walk away. We wouldn't stay here again

We stayed two nights at the end of May for the annual Cambridge beer-festival.

On arrival we didn't get the best first impression as the outside was littered with rubbish but when we came back later that night the rubbish had been cleared, presumably by the staff.

The room was small but clean and we had everything we needed and the location was very central. We couldn't open the window due to the secondary double-glazing but at least the aircon worked fine.

We'd stay again.

Room Tip: The front rooms are facing the road and hence little noisy.

Good hotel with great location. It’s just a few steps away from everything in Cambridge

Spent a night here on a business trip. Central location with lovely rear aspect to Parker's Piece. Rooms immaculate and tastefully decorated throughout. Bathroom was larger than average. I had a room at the front and enjoyed the benefit of lots of natural light as both bedroom and bathroom had large windows. Air-conditioning was very effective. Can request breakfast to be delivered to room which was a nice touch.Free parking is available in Regent Terrace behind the hotel between 6.30pm - 8.30am, but beware of traffic wardens. I arrived at 6.25pm and a warden insisted that I go away and return in 5mins.

I've stayed at The Regent a few times on business and leisure trips to Cambridge and I generally avoid it for one simple reason: there is nowhere to park your car. You can't even stop outside the front of the hotel to drop your bags as it causes an obstruction on busy Regent Street. During the day (8:30am to 6:30pm) your only recourse is to park in the Queen Anne Terrace car park, about 300 yards away across Parker's Piece, and lug your bags over. At night, if you're lucky, you can park in the narrow lane behind the hotel on the yellow line and enter through the "tradesmen's" entrance.

The hotel itself is clean and the staff are friendly, but I find the rooms and ensuite bathrooms small and cramped. There is a tiny bar with an equally tiny selection of drinks and no restaurant. Breakfast is "continental", which is hotel-speak for "we don't have a proper kitchen in which to make you a proper breakfast" as it's nothing like any breakfast I've had in continental Europe, but you can't really mark The Regent down for this as many hotels practice this particular exaggeration.

Like many small British hotels, The Regent suffers from the safety requirement to have fire doors placed every few feet in corridors that weren't built for them, making progress to your room with heavy bags from the tiny lift quite challenging.

Overall an adequate hotel, but certainly not car-friendly.
