Perfect spot to visit for an hour or two. Excellent remberance of the air war that keep the Allied nations free during the Second World War. Super helpful staff and a beautiful location for a walk and a bit of history. Read the displays in the visitor center. Great personal stories of our heros. It is an easy trip from Cambridge via public bus.

If you're in Cambridge the American cemetery at Madingley is well worth a visit. The cemetery itself has the graves of several thousand US servicemen who lost their lives in the European theatre of World War II - the serried ranks of crosses and Stars of David bear witness to the sacrifices made by the American forces who came thousands of miles to the UK to help free Europe from Nazi domination.
The cemetery is sheltered by a long white stone wall inscribed with the names of 5000 more men whose bodies were never recovered - including one Lt Col Leon Vance USAAF who won the Medal of Honour for supreme bravery only to be killed in an air crash whilst being repatriated to the States. Also, one Alton Glenn Miller, the famous bandleader who was lost on his way to entertain troops in France.
The gardens and reflecting pools are immaculately kept & the stunning chapel with it's mosaics and maps is well worth a look.
