3. All areas sparkling clean

just had a weekend here at holiday inn cambridge, enjoyed it lots great location ideal for newmarket races & nites out in cambridge, just off a14 taxi to cambridge £7.00 taxi to newmarket £20, the rooms were very comfortable great bed spacious enough for two people, shower was brilliant lovely & hot, staff at reception were very polite, pool was great just a shame the windows didn't open on to courtyard area, breakfast was fantastic lots & lots of choice fresh fruit pastries full english the works washed down with coffee tea juices etc i'd go back to the holiday inn without a doubt but i wouldn't stay in room 132 it was very very noisy with the staff talking early in the morning in the storeroom next door that was a shame the only thing that spoiled my stay.

Room Tip: do not stay in room 132 its next to a storeroom for hotel staff

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your very positive comments on the hotel following your recent stay with us.

Please accept my apologies that you had a disturbed sleep in Room 132 and I have personally taken on board your comments. The room is located close to our linen department which may have been the cause of some noice. Staff working in the department have been made aware of your feedback and i hope this will alleviate any future disturbance for our guests.

Thank you once again for your comments.

Kind regards

A well run hotel. We stayed one night in order to visit Cambridge the following day. Executive room clean and spacious. Pool and spa area lovely and clean. Staff helpful and nothing appeared too much trouble. Had meal in the restaurant on the Saturday evening. The staff warned us we would have to wait about 30 minutes as there was a party on at the same time and we had not booked. However, they went out of their way to make us comfatable and we were attended to within 15 minutes. The food was good. Only issue the portions were slightly on the small side. The breakfast was superb. Would definitely go back and would highly recommend.

My husband booked this hotel for my surprise 40th birthday celebration.

Paying £170 for an Executive double with breakfast he & I expected a little more, but maybe we paid more for it staying over the 2012 London Olympics???

The executive rooms were in a separate section that looked non executive. The room smelt as if someone had been smoking in it. Some of the lamps and ceiling recess bulbs were out. The bathroom was a little tired.

Being in executive room gave us two bath robes, 2 free bottles of water, 2 chunky kitkats and better quality toiletries. Don’t bother, the bathrobes are very thin cotton and the toiletries are nothing to right home about. The basic rooms looked a lot nicer.

Our friends who also where with us were disappointed with their room with one bath robe and one chunky kitkat..

The spar facilities were basic pool, jacuzzi, Steam room and Sauna. The ladies changing room were obviously not cleaned throughout the day as there was rubbish on the floors and puddles of water. Again nothing to write home about.

I would recommend this hotel as it is close to cambridge, where we spent the evening, and a cab cost £10.00.

The breakfast was nice but the hotel was busy and so we had to sit in the bar/lounge with our breakfast along with other customers.

This hotel is good for hen / stag weekends (several on the same weekend we where there), families & business.

It was not conducive to a romantic weekend away, just did not have that something special and I believe that the room was no better then a Premier Inn.

Considering we paid £180 for a room only with a view over the Thames at the Four Seasons Canary Wharf I don’t consider this hotel to be of great value...

Sorry...

Room Tip: Dont bother with an executive room

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with is at the Holiday Inn Cambridge.
Unfortunately our rates do fluctuate depending on availability, and during busy periods can be alot higher. When booking in advance we do offer rates from £79 B&B.
Our Executive rooms are far more superior to our standard rooms, not only offering the additional items you have mentioned but also: contempory decor, power shower, mini bar, safe, iron & ironing board to name a few.
The poolside and changing rooms has recently been refubished earlier this year, spending £70,000 improving the area. Since the refurbishment we have had nothing but priase from our guests and Health Club members, and the changing rooms are checked at regular intervals throughout the day.
I am sure that you are aware that even with breakfast available from 7.30am on weekends, everyone would much rather a later breakfast. Because of this we have no control how many people come for breakfast at once, and on rare occassions have allocated additional seating in the lounge area to avoid delays to our guests.
I hope that my response has gone some way to answering the issues you have reported, and that you will consider us in the future when visitng Cambridge.
Many Thanks
Wayne Morris

Stayed for one night recently but have stayed here many times over the past couple of years. Staff at reception, in the restaurants, bars, pool and cleaners are all friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable and there is plenty of on-site complimentary parking. Very convenient location for visiting Cambridge and surrounding areas. It is always a pleasure to return here.

I stayed here recently for three nights. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The bed, which is always a concern for me, was extremely comfortable and I slept very well. The room was of a generous size, clean and well presented. The shower worked well. The public areas were pleasant to be in though some of the apparently comfy sofas were a nightmare to sit on. Breakfast was much better than average of its type though I did only notice on the final day that porridge was available. No one told me. A pity for our teenagers and for my purse that hot chocolate cost extra but the man did apologize and explain. The pool was one of the best leisure clubs we have ever used at a holiday inn. I cannot comment on restaurant meals. Bar meals are a little expensive but the coffee was good.

Room Tip: We needed more than one room. Family rooms are only located in one part of the building so to get th...

Visited overnight on way to France on a very wet and cold June day. No lift and a long walk to room on first floor the room felt as if not used for some time cold and no heating. Light not working finally sorted. Restaurant best avoided rushed plate snatched as soon as we put down cutlery.Bill wrong in the end at third attempt I had to get a pen and paper and work it out for them!! Breakfast mediocre and very over priced better quality and value at a Prmier Inn.
Try somewhere else.
