A good menu in a restaurant with table cloths but still manages to carry off a pub like feel. Good serving staff and food was well prepared.

After arriving for a works do three courses set menu for xmas 2016; the dozen or so of us. We're welcomed and given drinks, shortly after the starters arrived, my potted pate was nothing short of frozen, the main wasn't brilliant the turkey was literally a square of thick meat; and the vegetables were pretty hard; it wasn't very appealing. The sweet custard brûlée was however, very nice, and my ginger beer was rather refreshing. Overall, my starter and main were of poor quality, everything else was okay. The service was satisfactory and the view overlooking the river, was very pleasant..

We had no idea that this restaurant existed, but having read the very positive reviews, we gave it a go last night. We parked outside the Fitzwilliam Museum and walked to it, as we weren't sure if parking was provided. It's on the first floor of a large university building, rather Brutalist in style, and this is reflected in the interior, which is spacious and simple. The tables are well spaced and the view over river is beautiful, apparently, although we will have to go back when the evenings are lighter to appreciate this. The service was very friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. Not a big menu, but a good choice nonetheless and a lovely veggie dish for me. My husband had lamb which was pink and tender. Nice warm bread and tasty starters, veg accompaniments and puddings. The wine (a Primitivo) was a definite hit. We thought the price was more than reasonable for the quality of the food and we will definitely be going back to appreciate the view when the evenings are lighter.

You might not know it's there, or if you do, you might think it's for University members only. It isn't, it's for the public, and it's a wonderful place. No restaurant in Cambridge has a better location, and marry that with the great food, the service and the price, and it adds up to one of the best dining experiences you can have in the City.

I have visited twice and on both occasions the food has been perfectly fresh and beautifully prepared. The service is impeccable - attentive and friendly without being intrusive - and whilst this isn't a cheap restaurant it is incredible value for money.

It might be hidden in an imposing and rather austere building over the river, but don't let that put you off. Have a digestif in The Mill and then head up for a wonderful dining experience.
