How can you tell this strange "restaurant" is institutional? Is it the dirty windows with a spectacular view, the beer bottle caps littering the window ledge, the lack of atmosphere, instructions from the waitress to hurry and order as the kitchen closed at 2.00 on a Saturday? Perhaps it is a restaurant designed by a Committee. If you can get over the distractions and focus on the view, the food is OK, although the beer wasn't while the beer in the bar below was excellent

My husband and I had an anniversary lunch here. The location is excellent as it overlooks the river Cam. The service was very good and the food was well presented and tasty but did not quite each the wow factor. Maybe because it was a wet day or because we were celebrating. Very good value for money.

See their website for the current menu, the food was all well presented and the two staff on duty were friendly and did a great job looking after us. Goats cheese croquettes for starters, followed by melt in the mouth tender lamb, creme brûlée with shortbread to finish - all of which tasted very good and served in a relaxed environment.

Views over the punting station and the field beyond with wandering cows, tourists, students and cyclists - couldn't get a better Cambridge cityscape!

This restaurant was a real treat with a single page menu covering all 3 courses so focussing on good cooking rather than tying to cover every food type. They do online bookings and I'd recommend you try it out.

This restaurant is in a University building but is open to the general public and it's astonishing it's not booked solid every night! The view alone, high above the Cam, would be worth it but the superb, and very reasonably priced, food should bring people flooding in even were this not the case. I had not been for some time and, while it's always been good, this meal was truly excellent. Our party had the whole place to ourselves, which both makes me loath to awaken the wider world to this jewel in the crown, but at the same time keen to spare people the expensive and noisy eateries that throng the center
Another good point - very quiet. No piped music, off the street. We were with two fairly deaf guests so this was appreciated.

We went on Valentine's day this year and really loved the atmosphere and food. The staff was also excellent and very friendly. I would definitely recommend it and will probably return soon.
