“Pretty Water Way with a Back Drop of University Colleges”

This river was very busy with punts and punters who were making the most of the sunshine. As most of the colleges own the water front you either have to pay to go through a college or join the river from the public park side.

While visiting Cambridge we decided to have a punt trip on the river Cam, It lasted about 40 minutes but the information we received from the "pilot" was excellent, the whole time were on board he never stopped with little anecdotes and snippets of useful information, well worth the money.

Cambridge is named after the bridge over the River Cam. The river runs through the city and can either be enjoyed by wandering the paths behind the city's biggest colleges - Trinity, King's College and Queen's College - or by punting a pram down the river (rented with or without punter). Don't miss the mathematical bridge, best seen from the entrance to Queen's College.

Best enjoy it by punting -- public punting that is, unless you are a boatrowing expert. It's much cooler than exploring the place on foot.

We were visiting the University of Cambridge for the day, and wandered to this little bridge...over the River Cam! And "punting" means rowing along the river in these small prams. What a hoot - this is a little river, and it was full of these prams going in both directions, and it was crowded! It was fun to watch for awhile. And you can rent a pram and "punt" along the river yourself, or hire a local guide to take you on a ride. Great experience.

Thank thaward
