If you have to work in your room then be prepared to spend £2.95 for 30 minutes internet access; £10.95 for 24 hours. We are guests not cash cows. Other Holiday Inns within Europe dont treat their guests like this, why it it policy in the United kingdom?

We do apologies for not meeting your expectations with our internet charges. We do offer the 6 hours complimentary WIFI in the lounge area but as mentioned it is chargeable in the bedrooms. Your feedback is greatly appreciated to ensure we are constantly improving and offering high standards of service to all our guests. Thank you Kerrie

Fantastic hotel, very good value and extremely helpful staff. Asked for directions and they printed maps off the Internet, couldn't do enough to help. Very convenient location, good breakfast. You won't be disappointed!

The staff here were very helpful and very friendly. I enjoyed working there today. Sometimes the Holiday Inns we work at aren't very helpful and aren't very pleasant to talk to but here the staff were brilliant! The rooms were ideal for business and complimentary water and biscuits were in each room we booked.

Only thing I would say is that the mobile coverage wasn't particulary great.

Stayed in HI Express Cambridge for second time - happy with location, secure parking on site, price good for Cambridge - if you book in advance. Had struggled the first occasion to find an affordable hotel in Cambridge. Hotel is clean, welcoming, includes breakfast.

In mid-february 2013 I stayed for just one night. It was very clean with helpful, pleasant staff. My room was quite spacious and spotlessly clean. Continental breakfast [included in the price] was nice. Although 'continental' there was hot food available - scrambled eggs, beans and sausages as well as the usual cereals, croissants, toast etc.
The hotel is on the eastern outskirts of Cambridge so it's nice and quiet. An 8 minute walk gets you to the bus stop where there's a bus into the city centre every 15 minutes [£2 single] so it's ideal if you don't want to use your car.
I'd certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have no one above you so they're quiet and try to get a room at the back over...

I've already stayed here before and it was another very good experience. Warmly greeted when I arrived (by Marius I think), room very clean and bed comfortable. Above all very quiet. The breakfast was good, but only a few hot items as is the case at this hotel, but was filling. It is a little out of things but there is a Sainsburys nearby and a sport centre next door. I walked into town and it takes about half an hour, but there is a bus. Had a meal at night which was very good (Fishcakes and salad). Will stay again.

Room Tip: Those at the back face onto a large lake and very quiet.

If you book late to stay in Cambridge, expect to pay well over the odds. The Holiday Inn Express is a case in point. I paid £150 for two nights for myself and two children but, during our stay, the price showing behind the reception desk was a truly ridiculous £150.00 per room - a very small room - per night.

In the hotel’s favour, the staff are hard-working and multi-tasking. They serve behind reception and behind the bar and at breakfast as well. Presumably, they are also on duty at dinner, which was rather too expensive to be tempting, especially when residents can use the restaurant in the David Lloyd Tennis Centre next door. (The tennis centre apart, there is nothing else in the vicinity as the hotel is way out of town.)

On to the bedrooms which prompted this entry. The beds are comfortable but – and this is a really big BUT – the bathrooms have much the same smell of stale urine that you might experience in a public loo or a 40-year-old railway carriage WC. It is not an easy smell to ignore or, for that matter, to explain in that the hotel is relatively new.

Perhaps this problem was peculiar to Room 127 but I have my doubts.
