“A good place for a short stay”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

This was the second time I've stayed in this hotel. It was only for one night, while waiting to meet my son and grand daughter at the airport, but it was very comfortable with a spotlessly clean room and bathroom. The room was well maintained with the air of being well looked after. I'd requested a room in a quiet part of the hotel which is exactly what I was given. The hotel was virtually full including a large party of what looked like footballers. However the around my room was peaceful. The breakfast was sufficient but the choice of hot food was very limited. As I booked through a hotel booking site I thought the price could have been lower. However I would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet ask the staff for a quiet room. They were very obliging. Also ask for a...

We stayed for one night for a concert at the Junction.

Room: Standard holiday express room, clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable.
Location: Good parking, quiet a long walk to Cambridge centre.
Breakfast: Lots to eat, no queue, very nice.
Noise: Very quiet
Staff: Very friendly and helpful.
Price: Seemed a little expensive, but generally ok on value for money.

Overall: Standard holiday express with friendly staff.

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at our hotel! I am really pleased to hear that you found the room cleanliness of our high standard and had a comfortable nights sleep. Although the hotel is located in the city centre, I appreciate that the walk may have been quite tiring, our staff are always on hand to book taxis and give directions to the nearby frequent bus service should you stay with us in future! I do hope you enjoyed your concert,
Kind Regards

we stayed in the hotel in December 2013 (the New Years). It is very clean, the staff is polite and always helpful. The room was amazing: a big, very comfortable bed, a tv and a sofa; it also had a great shower in the bathroom. Breakfast was good but a bit limited (same things every day and not a big choice). The location is not really good unfortunately but it's not a big problem, as there's a train station just next to the hotel. I definitely reccommend Holiday Inn Express, it's one of the nicest places I stayed in.

We stayed her over a weekend, prior to a Hospital appointment at Addenbrooks on Monday morning. Due to health reasonswehadto have oxygen in our room, which was delivered the day before we arrived, and the staff were very understanding about this.
The staff were great, and couldn't do enough for you.
The bedroom was great, clean and had a fantastic shower, as well as a flat screen TV and kettle etc.
There is ample free parking, and a bar, a tad expensive but you are a privet audience.
Breakfast was more than adequate, with a decent choice of hot or continental.

A very good stay, and based on this we will be back.

First impressions on arrival are strange - this is situated on an industrial estate, next to a David Lloyd tennis centre. But there is a cycle/walkway in front of the hotel that takes you directly into Cambridge. We hadn't stayed in a HI Express for about 10 years, and they seem to have improved very much. This hotel room was very acceptable. Dogs are allowed to stay, at £10 per night each (why don't they detail this when booking?, it always seems to be an unknown until arrival). A cooked breakfast is included in the room rate. There is no height barrier on the car park entrance, but there is an entry barrier. A code is required to exit the car park.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in December 2012 and back again in October 2013.

During my last visit, I found the hotel as good as the previous year, same good quiet restaurant serving dinner and good beers, same good breakfast though with some limited choice, same very confortable rooms.

The location has not changed either :-) it is almost in the middle of nowhere just next to the runaway of the local airport. There is a small mall and fitness centre near-by but definitely you need to walk 15min to reach Saintsbury and about 30min for Newmarket Rd.

The great improvement is that now you have free wi-fi everywhere and in every room, while in 2012 it was only available at the lobby.

Well done!!!

A big thank you for your review of your recent stay! I am really pleased to see that you decided to stay at our hotel again, and found the hotel to be of the same great standards! Our free wi-fi has been a hit since we introduced it last year and it is great to hear the feedback!
The team and I look forward to seeing you again next time you visit cambridge!

A pet peeve is hotels who do not keep their restaurants open the hours that they post. Top marks to this place for still serving a full range of breakfast items (hot, cereal, yoghourt, pastries, coffee and juices) after the posted finishing time of 10 am on Saturday, and everything being available again before the posted start time of 7 am on Sunday.
Clean, comfortable, modern. Rather bland but efficient.
