“Indian delight”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

We arrived late to our guest house and were hungry after a long travel day. The owner of the guest house recommended we give Dawatt a try and we are glad we took him up on his recommendation. It was a scant 200 meters from where we were staying so we arrived quickly. Decor was pleasant...linen tablecloths and napkins with nice silverware. Besides all the regular dishes on many of the Indian restaurants in England, they also had their specialties including some Bengali dishes...we ordered two of those and they were both excellent. One a creamier dish and the other a spicier one...both chicken. We also ordered the coconut rice and pilau rice and some garlic naan...once again excellent. The owner explained to meet that Dawatt means to "invite to a meal" and that is just what it says on their sign...invite-eat-dine....we are glad we were invited to dine there!

“Used to be good....”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

But definitely gone down hill. Food used to be really interesting a year ago but suspect they've had a change of chef. One of the few curry houses that will deliver, although you have to pay cash to driver. Seems odd as you can order online via just eat, but if you call them they insist on cash.

“Excellent food and a good menu to choose from”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

We've had three take-away meals from Dawatt and they've all been excellent. The last one was on a Saturday night and was ordered through the Just Eat service arriving in about 45 mins (10 mins faster than expected).

All the meals we've had have been tasty. We've had a range of lamb, prawn, chicken and vegetarian dishes and will definitely be going back for more. It's our "go to" Indian restaurant in Cambridge at the moment

“Great food, lovely staff - but so slow!”
Reviewed 19 March 2013

High quality Indian food, obviously freshly-prepared, with fair sized portions. Mixed starter (for 2) fed 3 of us easily and tastily, and curries and side dishes that followed were equally good. Only downside was that it took an age for food to arrive: we were so ravenous that it was hard to slow down enough to savour the dishes with the appreciation they deserved.
Good value, too.

“Really great, found it by accident will definitely be back”
Reviewed 23 December 2012

We popped in here by chance after an insulting experience at a restaurant on the other side of the road. This place is a real gem. It attracts a quieter, older crowd and a menu that has a few twists on regular Indian menus. The starters (chicken pakora and onion bhaji) are standard menu items but these were so fresh and tasty, pretty good portions too. The mains were outstanding, really tasty king prawns and we chose from their reasonably-priced specials page. Attentive service, a real find.
