Love the Black Cat and it's variety of food they serve. Usually always get the Baghdad Breakfast which consists of Lentils, poached eggs and cumin butter sauce but recently they have introduced Moroccan eggs which were just delicious....Flat-bread, poached eggs and a tomato and mixed spice sauce....yummmm! They also always have a variety of uniquely flavored cakes which on my recent visit were Blackcurrant and liquorice syrup as well as Jasmine rice and coconut. Yum Yum Yum

I have eaten several times at the Black Cat and the food is always delicious! Imaginative flavours served in a quirky environment and great coffee. A bit of an institution now in Mill Road ... great spot

I love this place.A home away from home for an expat Aussie. It wouldn't suit everyone but that's because it's unique and imaginative. And comfortable.Food is great and different and big servings. From my travels around Camb and testing many cafes I come back to this one.Not only best cake and breakfast, love the Moroccan eggs, it's the only place that makes a proper flat white coffee. If you're looking for something different for breakfast this is the place to be.And I've been served a wrong order or incompetently either!

Agree with some other reviews that the service isn’t great - there are only enough covers for about 20 or so maximum in there at a time and yet they don’t do waiting you have to go to the till to place your order at which point they have to try and remember what you look like to find you to give you your drinks or food - when busy I can see how things may be brought out incorrectly.

It would be easy to adjust this to having someone in the kitchen, someone preparing the drinks and someone to take orders/take out the food and to use a table number system, as it is however they have three people all doing things at different time and no real structure.
However, the food has always been lovely when I’ve visited and I love how everything is homemade - though not that keen on the treacle bacon - it is also a little pricey but I accept this for the fact that the quality of the ingredients is greater to other places in the area, the coffee is also always very nice - enjoy a flat white here.

What is nice is that its cosy and quaint, the staff are friendly and you’re not rushed - you could come in and eat and drink at your own pace in a nice environment and a place where you can feel totally at home - and that’s why despite its couple of downfalls I would return over and over again.

It's not the cheapest place, nor the best service, but that's not what this cafe is about, It's just a nice place to spend some time in the morning.
I disagree with some of the previous reviews that suggest that the food is not good. Each time I have been, their poached eggs have been perfect and I have yet to be given someone else's order.
