Stayed March 2014 for one night, £54
Quite an impressive new building that has arisen in this rather rundown but improving quarter of Cambridge set back from a dual carriageway. Free parking underneath the hotel, although I got one of the last spaces around 5pm which suggests they may not have adequate provision for everyone who might want one.
First impressions very good: extremely efficient and friendly staff and a very clean and bright layout. Room was a bit on the functional side but it had a very comfortable bed with good quality linens and there was tea and coffee available. The shower room was fine, a prefab unit that one often sees in these kinds of hotels, but it was rather annoying that there was no shower basket.
I paid in advance for breakfast (£6.65) which was plentiful - a reasonable cooked breakfast as well as toast, many cereals, juices and fruits. I was disappointed however that wi-fi cost an eye-watering £10 a day. This is unacceptable: Internet shouldn't be an added extra any more (plenty of establishments at all levels of the market now include it for free) and, at this markup, just plain mean. Interesting that my phone had a full 4G signal outside the front door but barely one bar of 3G in the room, even at the window.
Would probably stay again, assuming they don't rack up their prices after they've been open for longer.
