We arrived at this hotel at 2.10pm and we're told that our room was ready but if we wanted to get in before 3pm we would have to pay an early check in charge or, alternatively, leave our bags in reception. The principle just really annoyed me. If the room was ready why not just let us in for the sake of under an hour!! Despite tat annoyance the stay was fine. The hotels is about 20 mins walk from the town centre, the room was fine, the free car parking ideal and it was good value for money. Just an irritating money making came to start with.

We stayed here for one night for a friends wedding, having stayed in TLs before.
As this was brand new we were looking forward to it, but were disappointed as...

1) very thin walls, lots if noise. As a stag/hen destination TL the build quality of hotel is not fit

2) very hot, so avoid mid summer.or open the window and hear the road or smokers chatting outside till v late

3) parking...are you feeling lucky? It's free if you are lucky to get one if the few spaces. We were directed to a car park for £24 for over 5 hours. But final bill was £34 as charging starts again at midnight....half the price of the room!

4) early check in at 12- no, room available at 1230....

Overall staying here added stress and expense as the quick turn around to park, change and go out needed for a wedding was hard at every point.

Stayed a new premier inn the week before in Halifax. That had aircon £7 parking and was quiet... If TL did the good night sleep gaurentee they did I'd have asked for money back

There were quite big group of us staying her for a reunion. The Hotel was modern and spacious with a 24 hour bar. We booked a triple room but there were only 2 of us in the end but the room was really spacious and one of us got to sleep on the double bed and the other on the very comfy put up bed. The staff were all really helpful and friendly, could not fault them. Especially Teresa who was great and made sure cabs were booked for us on time as the Tour de France was on the next day so some of the streets were closed, she went our of her way to help us. We walked into Cambridge from the hotel - it is about a 15 minute stroll. A cab back to the hotel was roughly about £6 - £10.
We did not have breakfast included in our room rate but if you want breakfast then you pay £7.50 and they have a full breakfast bar serving full English as well as cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurts & Croissants and you can have seconds!
Thoroughly recommend the hotel.

Where to start? There are some good points with this hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the decor is modern and the location is good (though see later).
Unfortunately, these positives do not make up for the negative points.

This is a new hotel on the Newmarket Road. Our first floor room was of a good size but long and thin. Due to the external design, the window was confined to half the external wall and formed into a right angle (difficult to describe but sort of like an 'L' shape). The effect was that the room was gloomy without the lights on. It also meant that there were two curtains at right angles: one across the front and one angled back into the room. This in turn meant that light spilled into the room from behind the curtain. Combined with the curtain rail being at least 100mm from the window and thin curtains without black-out linings meant that it didn't actually get dark in the room.

For some reason, this hotel has been built with no air conditioning or forced ventilation in the rooms. On top of this, and because of the external design, only half the window opens, and then only 50mm or so.

This is the biggest problem: compounded by the fact that the room overlooks a busy main road so you can't sleep with the window open anyway. The effect was that it is impossible to cool the room to a comfortable level. We slept very badly.

The bathroom is functional, but has a fatal flaw (if you want to wash anyway). The small basin is dominated by an enormous monoblock tap and I guarantee you will bang your head on it when you try to wash soap off your face with your eyes closed. I did.

Lastly, despite the booking being for two, there was only one set of towels and there was no bath mat.

All in all, a very disappointing visit.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else or at least ensure you do not overlook Newmarket Road.

Stayed over 2 nights for a wedding. Booked well in advance so the cost was reasonable. Arrived early to ensure getting a parking space as we weren't going to use the car during our visit. This is a new hotel so we found it clean and was happy with our room. Fortunately our room was at the rear so we were spared any noise from the road.

Tere were quite loud groups in the bar during the evening as stag and hen groups came and went and we were subjected to noise from people siting outside in the early hours.

But overall, the food and drink was very acceptable and we would stay at this Travelodge again.

Kevin who was on the desk when we arrived and in the dining room at breakfast, was excellent and very helpful.

This is a new hotel (opened June 2014) within 30 minutes walk of the centre of Cambridge. Access from the A14 is straightforward and the hotel has it's own car park. Not particularly cheap but worth considering if you want to explore Cambridge

Everything you expect from Travelodge. Clean, tidy and relatively cheap. The room was comfortable if a bit small, but we didn't plan on spending too much time in it. The location was convenient for us within walking distance of the centre. The staff were friendly. Overall happy with our stay. Could have spent a £100 more to stay at the Hilton Double Tree, but not sure if it really would have been worth it for two nights.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the Harvest Way side of the Hotel as this is quieter.
