This year 2014, Diane and I decided to spend some time in Cambridge. We picked the Hotel Du Vin via Trip Advisor. It was easy to find, Beautifully located and the room we where given was spotless and surprisingly spacious. We had both dinner and Breakfast at the Inn and the food was qyuite tasty and the service uniformly excellent. Yes it is not cheap but in my opinion well worth it when you remember where you are.

Room Tip: The rooms on the other side of the courtyard are spacious and comfortable

We were here for two nights for a birthday party in town. The location is great, within easy walking distance to centre of town. The room is just fine, it is actually slightly bigger than what we had expected. Our room was facing street but it was not noisy at all. The service was quite good, especially during tea time, staff were friendly and efficient. But at breakfast, service was very slow which was strange as there weren't many people having breakfast when we did. Overall, it is quite expensive for what it provided. We would not mind coming back again due to the location and the overall good service.

We received a pleasant welcome to this quirky but charming old building. Our room ("Villa Maria") on the front of the hotel had a sunny outlook but was decidedly odd as you enter the room through the bathroom! The sleeping area was very small - this is apparently a "superior" room - and we constantly banged our shins on the protruding bed legs. No chest of drawers and a wardrobe with those horrible and infuriating 'clip-on' hangers, so not a comfortable stay, although the bed itself was fine. There was no blind on the bedroom window so no privacy from the street without closing the heavy curtains. Insufficient lighting in the bathroom.
We had arrived at 2 pm and as we live in Spain were surprised to find the Bistro had stopped serving lunch at that time. However, we had good Fish & Chips in the attractive cellar bar, despite the grumpy barman.
Dinner that evening in the Bistro was really quite good - a reasonable chicken-liver parfait followed by excellent, perfectly cooked Lemon Sole. Unfortunately, the accompanying Wilted Spinach had not been washed and was full of grit - very poor attention to detail in the kitchen. The lady sommelier was charming - a credit to the establishment - and generally the staff were friendly and efficient. Given that there are not many decent hotels in Cambridge, I suppose this place was just about acceptable, but in future we would stay in one of the country house hotels outside the city.

We staryed at this very lovely stay and had a free room uprade. Its in a great location near kings college and all the other parts of the centre of Cambridge. Upon arrival as we went to park the car there are very deep water gullys that are about a foot wide outside the hotel which you cannot see if you are approaching on the opposite side of the road, unfortunately our front wheel went straight down it but luckily we got the car out with minimal damage. Thought I had to write about this as the hotel didn't forewarn us and I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else.. Enjoy your stay There!

The location is great and the building looks impressive. On arrival the hotel staff were very helpful as we had elderly parents with us and needed wheelchair access. The valet parking (although quite expensive) is very useful as it is difficult to park in central Cambridge.
BUT that is were it started to go awry. Our party had booked, a not insignificant 6 rooms, for a wedding. We appreciated that it was a busy weekend and that we had arrived at 12:30 But with the 'olds' to get ready for a 3 o'clock wedding we asked for priority to get our room. We were the last of our party to be allocated a room at 13:50 which stressed everybody unnecessarily.
The rooms are ok, The service at breakfast was slow given it wasn't that busy.
Overall it was expensive for the standard and it would be unlikely we would stay again.

We stayed only a night at the Cambridge Hotel Du Vin but found it a cool experience. We got in late and were helped immediately (someone took our car and bags and check in was easy). They also had shortbread cookies waiting for us upon check in (nice after a long drive from Dover).

We stayed in the room Errazuri (spelling?) on the first floor. Seemed like all of the rooms had names - not sure if that meant they had different layouts or not. No view to speak of, but comfy bed and an interesting washroom called a 'wet room'. This was a GIANT tiled room with the toilet and sink on one side and a dual shower head on the other - no door/curtains just a small slope into the shower. While the plumbing couldn't handle both running at the same time, it was a fun idea and a great single shower experience.

The bar is in a cool cave like location in the basement and served us some great wine and onion soup. In the morning we didn't have a ton of time before we had to get onto our next destination, but got up early and were able to walk out the front door and explore the Cambridge campus and nearby village easily with a quick walk. We finished off our trip at Hotel Du Vin with a quick breakfast in their bistro that was delish.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on the first night of our honeymoon at the end of July. The welcome from the staff was friendly and check-in was very efficient. Loved the complimentary shortbread available at reception! We were also given advice re parking, as we were going to be leaving at around 3.30am the next morning to get to the airport - they could very easily have encouraged us to pay for the hotel valet service, but because it was a Sunday night, we were advised to just park on the side of the road (for free!) as the parking restrictions wouldn't be in force until after we left the following morning.

We had been upgraded to a suite, which was a very lovely surprise! The room was fantastic - huge room, huge bed, great shower and 2 bathtubs in the room! The only draw back was no biscuits with the tea and coffee facilities and also, the room was very dark.

We didn't think we'd be able to have breakfast as we were leaving so early in the morning, but we were advised that room service would be available, so we had some fruit and tea at about 3.15am!

Overall, very much enjoyed our, albeit very brief, stay.
