Whilst in my favorite curry house last saturday about half ten enjoying our food as we usually do the restaurant was empty which is unusual for a saturday the only other customers were a party of 7/8 and a table of 4 we enjoyed our food as we do allways,I sometimes look at the on Trip advisor and saw a complaint to the restaurant saying the party of 4 were very unhappy about there experience there saying the waiters were rude and surly and wanting to hurry there food and that the kitchen uses a microwave oven which i know they do not have one and have never had one in the 26 years that they been open , after reading this review i asked to look in there kitchen when i went to them for a take away wednesday which they did with no hesitation and found it to be in very good order and found no sign of a microwave and i had no cause for complaint i urge any one to take a visit and try for yourselves

We had the misfortune of choosing to eat at the Maharajah on Saturday night as part of our weekend visit to Cambridge. Our party of 4 arrived at the restaurant at 11 pm and were surprised to find only one other couple eating in this place - this should have forewarned us of what was to follow. The waiters were young and surly - none of the usual Asian pleasantries or banter. We ordered our main dishes at approx 11:10 and these were delivered to our table with unseemly haste - within 5 minutes. This obviously indicates pre-prepared dishes, which have simply been microwaved. As expected my Chicken Tikka Masala was bland and tasteless - consisting of a few cubes of diced chicken in a watery sauce. My wife's Lamb Passanda was tough and chewy. Our friends lamb madras and his wife's mushroom korai tasted like something from a Fray Bentos tin - utterly tasteless and so disappointing.
However our main cause for complaint was the absolute disrespect that the 4 young Asian waiters displayed for their customers. Within 5 minutes of serving our meals, they were hovering at our table, removing plates and willing us to leave. At approx 11:30 pm they opened the exterior doors in the hope that the freezing conditions would force us to decamp. They then proceeded to put on their coats and again hovered around the table. Our bill was presented at 11:35 pm and we were informed that the restaurant was closing.
I have lived in Paris for the past 15 years but in a city where the waiters are notorious for their rudeness - I have never encountered this level of disrespect for their clientele. Rest assured that I made my feelings crystal clear to the assembled waiters, one of whom responded with an unconvincing and disingenuous explanation for their actions (not precisely an apology).
We departed the restaurant - obviously vowing never to return - and the waiters literally followed and closed the doors behind us.
To add insult to injury, later that night, two of our party succumbed to a bout of diarrhoea - an obvious consequence of the microwaved meals. You have been warned!

We joined a packed Saturday evening crowd with flashing decorations, sizzling and tasty curries, large portions and slighty confused service. It seems to be a popular place. Our rating: somewhere above average, so very good...
