Sunset Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #24 of 34 Ely B&B and Inns
Reviewed 20 May 2013

Stayed one night recently and was not disappointed. Although the B&B is situated in Isleham, some 15 mins from Ely, it is still convenient for Ely, Newmarket and Cambridge. Hosts are very welcoming and unobtrusive. I was asked what I wanted for breakfast and was supplied with ample fare, including coffee and toast, as well as a veggie cooked breakfast. My business partner, who lives locally, was even given some toast and coffee as a gesture of goodwill when she came to pick me up next morning. All the food is home made, including veggie burgers and bread and free range eggs.
The accommodation is all that you need, clean and fairly modern, and bed was comfortable. The fact that they were fully booked the week prior says everything. Genuinely veggie friendly B&Bs are not exactly plentiful, so this establishment is highly recommended for all that a casual visitor would need, including, not least, the extremely reasonable rates.

Needing a place to stay close to Soham we were looking through various Trip Advisor reports and were not impressed. We then started a search of the area on Google Maps and found this place, clicked on the link and went to their web site and like what we saw. We stayed there Early April 2013 and we can though roughly recommend the place. A warm welcome, a warm room and a beautiful warm Spring sunset, sat out in the walled garden - Mmmmm!
Don't let their vegetarian status put you off, as the breakfast is all homemade and absolutely scrumptious. From the homemade sausages to the bubble and squeak and even the eggs are from their own chickens. The homemade marmalade is to die for! Oh and the home made bread too!
We had an evening meal at The Griffin Pub, Isleham - brilliant and recommended by Gill, the landlady at Sunset View. See separate review. You can walk there in 7 or 8 minutes.
Please take time to walk round the village of Isleham, it is quintessentially a real British village in the old way of things and has a lovely medieval priory. Loads of walks in the area and easy for cycling round too, as it's dead flat.
The B&B is only 15 minutes by car from Ely, with it's historic cathedral, and Newmarket for the races. What a tranquil place to stay. Thank you to Gill and Ian - we will be back!
Top tip: Book early as they only have two rooms to let - a double and a twin, both with private facilities.
Ps. The Golden Retriever dog, Brandy is an absolute dear, as are the two cats that can't meow!
And the house if full of lovely old restored furniture that you actually get to sit on and use.

Room Tip: Both rooms are great

Enthusiastic owners with a very warm welcome. Homemade cake and coffee on arrival which was well received. Room was spacious, well equipped and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was scrummy with eggs from their own chickens. Would recommend.
