“Small but informative”

Oliver Cromwell's House
Ranked #4 of 33 things to do in Ely
Certificate of Excellence

There were only 8 rooms but the audio guide brought each to life, with fascinating facts, not least the historical context. Two videos, including one on the draining of the Fens, were extremely interesting.

Lots of rooms and you get an audio guide which is good. Plenty of period furniture and objects, you get a real feel for the time and achievements of this man.

Even the sounds and smells are catered for and some rooms are quite cold whilst others quite hot. It's a nice story, and of course, it's true!

A very interesting and educational place to visit which makes you think about how our country could have been if Cromwell and his descendents had become our permanent rulers. The house has been very well kept and was a pleasure to visit.

An interesting look at how Oliver Cromwell lived in the years leading up to the Civil War.The Audio commentary was very good and gave you lots of information which you could access at your own pace via the handsets, gave an insight into family life at this time as well as a reminder of the course of the civil war. An enjoyable and educationalvisit.

This is another local attraction that is worth seeing as Oliver Cromwell lived here for a number of years.
