This was my first stay in a Travelodge for quite a while. My last experience had been pretty dreadful, but I was impressed with the Ely one. The refurbished room was very comfortable, and all the staff excellent. My one complaint was the fact that the extractor fan in the bathroom wouldn't turn off. I mentioned this in the evening to reception and was told (very apologetically) that they couldn't do anything about it. As such, I didn't sleep well at all with the constant noise. The next morning I mentioned it to the new staff member on reception. He was very apologetic and told me it would be fixed for the next guests. So, a decent room and friendly staff, but I was very annoyed by the lack of sleep.

We visit Ely often as we have family there and have stayed in a few other hotels round the Ely/Cambridge area over the last few years, ok this is the most basic of accommodation but the very best value in that area. Beds are comfy, staff are very welcoming and the rooms are very clean......ideal if you just need somewhere to sleep.

My usual experience of Travelodge is basic accomodation and you know what your going to get - pretty much nothing! However this whole experience was terrific, really friendly and accommodating staff, newly refurbished rooms so very clean. You do have to get a hair dryer from reception, but otherwise excellent stay. Remarkably quiet too as just off main road.

We stayed here for 2 nights while in Ely for the wedding of a friend.

This is a typical Travelodge - designed to be cheap and therefore quite basic - so we weren't expecting anything fancy. We were, however, pleasantly surprised that the room was nicely decorated and looked newly refurbished. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bedroom and bathroom very clean. There was a good sized television and decent towels.

The room was a little noisy - thin walls meant we could hear other guests in the corridor - but the problem wasn't a big one. We could also have done with more sockets, especially as there are none beside the bed for phone chargers etc.

The shower was good and the bathroom a decent size.

The room did not come with a hair dryer, but one can be borrowed from reception. It wasn't very powerful, however, so maybe bring your own if you have a lot of hair to dry!

There is an M&S nearby selling food and some toiletry items, as well as a petrol station and some fast good places.

The location is excellent - minutes from the city centre and only £5 in a taxi if you would rather not drive.

We found the staff to be polite and accommodating.

Overall this is a clean, comfortable budget hotel with nice rooms and good staff. It's excellent value for money and in a very convenient location.

We arrived at this Travelodge with some apprehension after reading the reviews online, but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff extremely helpful. We stayed two nights and have no complains.

This travelodge is on a busy junction, near a noisy 24 hour garage with a large Marks + Spencer's Food Shop, and Burger King drive through which we happen to know is the haunt of a lot of the local boy racers. There is also a Little Chef on site.

We expected to get no sleep at all because of the noisy location. However, we couldn't hear any noise at all once we got into the room.

The bed in the newly refurbished room was so comfortable that we all slept like logs.

The check in time was 3, check out at 12, however for an extra £10 you can check in earlier, and out later. This could be very handy.

The bath room was clean and we'll lit, our only gripe was the size of the bath, a tad small. However, we were supplied with plenty of nice white fluffy towels.

One thing I did notice is that there is no designated smoking area, which is a shame for the smokers - and the non smokers, because at the moment the smokers have to all congregate around the front doors into the hotel.

The staff were all helpful and efficient, whilst friendly.

Our dog had a lovely time, and was made very welcome.
