Description: The social meeting place on Alderney, Channel Islands overlooking Braye Bar. We serve an amazing range of freshly cooked home made dishes with a large selection of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, great for enjoying in one of our bars or outside on our terrace.

A good beer from Guernsay to start the evening off although the serving of food was quite slow. The red lentil and celery soup was excellent, The roast chicken fine and the fish and chips well done. Rea appeared and immediately greeted us from a previous time which was pleasing. All n all good food at a reasonable price. The staff put things right too over the slower service. A good effort.

Some of our flying friends had arrived at short notice. Where to go on a Sunday for lunch??? Thirteen of us in total.
Rae was very welcoming and provided us with an extremely good lunch which was praised by all. No doubt many will be returning to our island to sample the local produce again.
Well done, Rae and staff!
Great food in a great setting.

Rea's has had a variety of owners of the last few years. We visited late afternoon for a drink after sitting on the beach and the lack of atmosphere was a little disappointing. Perhaps its more lively in the evenings ...

First impressions count, staff were smoking outside while waiting / greeting customers; staff members where also more interested in there personal mobile phones and not the customers. Once the meal had been finsished they walked several times and not even bothering to take away the plates or check how the meal was.

Last August my fiancé and I spent a fortnight in Alderney, visiting friends, and frequented 'the moorings' a number of times. The place was always full to bursting, perhaps at times a little chaotic, but with a great atmosphere! The staff were always accommodating and friendly (particularly a charming Italian chap and two red headed lasses that were quite the double act!) the food great value for money and the locals very entertaining!
This time when we visited over Easter the place has gone to the pits! Not once did we encounter any of the charming yet eccentric local drinkers from last year which should have erm our first clue that things had changed... The first day we arrived we asked to book a meal for the two of us and were told in the most unbelievably rude manner by a girl more interested in her phone than us that there was a party of twenty booked so they were full! We were a little perplexed as last year the place seem to cater for hundreds at a time, but decide to have a quick drink whilst there. Unfortunately, the beer was off, and when I requested a different drink I was charged again!! And trying to get any conversation out of the barmaid was like trying to get blood out of a stone as she alternately took cigarette breaks and chatted on the phone! Despite this, we had loved the venue last year so decided to try again a few days later, with a hearty fry up like we had done many times last august... But when we arrived at 11am both bars were closed! So one final time we decided to try, on the Sunday night we headed out for a few drinks, expected a lively night... what we encountered was shocking! Glasses broken in every corner of the bar, people lighting cigarettes inside, one young lad asleep on the bench outside with another stood next to him urinating.. And the barmaid 'overseeing' this spent more time sat on some guys lap investigating his tonsils than she did behind the bar! And I very very much doubt that half of the punters were over 18! Needlessly to say we left.. And had a thoroughly good night at the camp singing karaoke instead!
The most saddening thing about the decline of this place is that it couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke! We will be returning for another visit in August and hope this time to see Ray in person and hope he takes heed of this review and sorts out his staff and standards!!
