Description: The Harbour Lights is a very popular restaurant renowned for its English and European cuisine and in particular fresh seafood. Our chef uses the freshest ingredients to produce mouth watering dishes which are beautifully presented.Lunch (12.00-2.00) and dinner (6.30 to 9.00)are served in both the restaurant and Bistro. Snacks are also available in the Bistro.Weather permiting you may prefer to dine in one of the five terraces. Our upper terrace is particularly popular as you are surrounded by exotic plants, grasses, palms and flowers, it has hand carved Indian sandstone paving and private alcolves made from railway sleepers. Then there is the peace and quiet and fabulous sea view. We are able to cater for any number of diners as well as cater for all sorts of functions including weddings, birthdays etc.

“Restaurant Review Only”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

Very pleasant start to our evening sitting on the terraces at the rear of the hotel soaking up the evening sun after managing to buy a drink at the cramped bar served by staff who do not know how to pour beer.
After that thing were not good in parts - the menu looked good when we finnally recieved them from another poorly trained member of staff (he came to take our order for both wine & food before bringing us the menues to choose from. We chose food & then wine, he then retuned to say that there were thre items we had chosen off the menu! We re-chose and the wine arrived which was very nice, but had to ask a further twice for a jug of iced water.

The food was ok, but poorly seasoned - the conclusion on the evening was that it was not very good & overpriced. The last time we were here the food was superb (south african chef we thought?), altogther this time we were disappointed.

“SEAFOOD FESTIVAL 2013”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

Where do I begin in regard to reviewing this superb restaurant. The menu will speak for itself.
For the Alderney Seafood Festival Menu the delights of such excellent cuisine will speak for itself.

As a starter there was :
Alderney Crab, Haricots Beans, Chorizo and saffron Chowder,
followed by:
Tuna Salad Nicoise
then:
Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Ravioli with Grated Parmesan
followed by:
Grilled Gambas with Garlic Butter,
then a most mouth watering:
Apple tart Fine with Salted Caramel and Vanilla Ice Cream
the meal was completed to the most excellent Homemade chocolate delights and coffee.

Davide is the chef...he is absolutely 5 star +...e are so fortunate to be able to receive such a high standard of food. Assisted by Jack who was a credit to Harbourlights who assisted in the restaurant facilities. A credit to the hotel.

I have reviewed this hotel and restaurant before and still only speak as I find. It is a pleasure and privilege to stay there.

Steve the manager / owner is of the greatest help always during our stay and his business and staff is a credit to him.
Thank you Steve for the privilege of staying at your 5 star hotel.... certainly what Poole Town Anglers believe it to be.

Dear Reverend Chris, thank you very much for your very positive review. I see this month we have also been featured very positively in BFM magazine as well as Food and Travel magazine so naturally delighted that our fantastic chefs are getting the publicity and recognition they deserve.

“The worst experience in a restaurant”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

Ok so we arrived and were eventually dealt with by a "lad" in a shirt hanging round his backside. Seated in what can only be describe as the hall we then proceeded to wait for 10 mins for a menu and another 15 mins for a drink
Now I know what you are thinking it was busy. No it was not. There was one other table with 4, 2 very drunk people at the bar and ourselves. We then proceeded to watch said "lad" talk to the chef, the 2 people at the bar, the other waitress, have a drink and muck about with some rubbish. He then went out the door directly behind us and had a chat with his mate he'd been texting behind the bar all the while we sat there with closed menus waiting to order. 30 mins went by
We got up and left.

Never been treated like it in my life I can only imagine what staying there is like.

And in case you where wondering we went to the Thai and had a gorgeous meal

This simply makes no sense at all as we have no tables in hallways and at the time of the visit we only employed waitresses and this is the first complaint of not being attentive. I would urge anyone reading this to come for a meal and put the record straight.

The problem with a busy restaurant is the cocktail party effect so the writer should try our Bistro which is shielded from this and has pictures because unlike our Restaurant it does not have a seaview. Weather permitting one can sit on one of our 5 terraces, the top two having spectacular views of the breakwater, Braye Bay and the lighthouse, perfect to enjoy a meal prepared by our award winning chef.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 8 January 2013

The restaurant of the Harbour Lights Hotel is a 'Hidden Gem' of Alderney in the Channel Islands. The standard of food would be in keeping with any 5 star London Hotel.

From the starters menu there was a wide selection which included Crayfish Risotto with Avruge Caviar and Grated Parmesan, Crab and Salmon Ravioli with Pesto Sauce and Shaved Parmesan not forgetting the delight of Pan Fried Scollops, Lemon Grass, Lime Leaf Veloute and Baby Vegetables.

The main courses are equally of the highest cuisine. Bouillabaise with Salmon, Scollop. Prawns, White fish and Mussels served with Potatoes and Vegetables is a must. My favourite was the Pan Fried Duck with Roasted Apricot, Rosti Potatoes and A Honey and Star Anise Sauce.
Alderney seabass with Braised Leeks, New Potatoes and a Beurre Blanc sauce .

A trip to this restaurant is a must for anyone visiting Alderney.
