The pictures and discription are a total misinterpretation of this hotel. This place is more like a cheap hostel! From first working into the shabby reception to dealing with the most rudest and uncaring man on reception I have ever come across. The car park holds three cars at best if you can get to it at all down a small terrest side street. It is unsure parking and also means you have to keep moving your car to let the other two out. I will be contacting trading standards! Be warned. Wish I had read trip advisor before I booked.

I booked this hotel with my boyfriend, from the photos looked wonderful! Double room with plastic shower cubicle, one bath towel no hand towel, bedding was flannelette type sheets. The cooked breakfast on Sunday morning was cold, beans, tin tomatoes, fried egg, hash brown and slightly warm mushrooms! Only white bread for toast which was also served cold. The corridor light was on all night and shone through around the door edges, combined with slamming doors and paper thin walls and getting to hear full blown conversations of our next door neighbours little sleep was had. It does state on site parking but what they don't say is its a maximum of 3 cars and as this hotel has over 30 rooms I found this to be slightly mis leading as I had to pay for off site parking!

My partner and I were seriously let down by a booking made for our 1 night stay in Chester for the races with another "hotel" and held out no hope of finding another venue at such short notice over the race weekend. On the off chance we called into the Lloyds and explained our situation to Dave on reception, who couldnt have been more helpful if he tried. We were shown a room which was small but comfortably, clean and adequate for what we needed for our stay. A complete contrast to the premises we was meant to be staying in. The bed was comfortable, shower and toilet a bit on the small side but spotless and clean towels provided. After a brilliant day at the races we felt more than comfortable returning to the hotel for the night. The breakfast the following day was extremely good with plenty of choice. The staff were pleasant, especially Dave who we cannot thank enough for his help at a very stressful time for us, and we would not hesitate to stay at the Lloyds again.

Nice enough hotel, close to city center. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, buffet style. We had a 2 night stay for the races, only car parking for about 3 cars, but car park down the road about £12 for 48 hours. Propietor and staff were so friendly and helpful. Would stay again!

We have just returned from a stay at lloyds of Chester and I feel compelled to write a review after such contrasting other reports. We paid £90 for a triple room almost half the price of the holiday inn and we had a super stay! There is a car park directly opposite which is £5.70 for 24hrs and the hotel Is only 7-8 minutes walk from the centre of town. The triple room was huge plenty of room for 3 adults with dressing table and full length mirror plus kettle iron and ironing board! Yes the bathroom is very small but completely adequate and plenty of hot water. Beds were really clean and comfy. Yes the hotel is tired around the edges but you get what u pay for and this was fantastic value for money! The breakfast was lovely and such warm service Id definetly recommend for a short break. If ur looking for a luxurious getaway stay elsewhere but lloyds is perfect if u want a friendly, clean, cheap and central hotel.

My husband and I booked to stay at the hotel for a wedding but unfortunately our baby daughter was poorly. I contacted the hotel and explained the situation and they very kindly refunded our deposit. I didn't have to ask them to do this as the owner had no hesitation in offering this goodwill gesture. If we come to Chester again we will definitely be booking to stay at this hotel. If only all hotels were as fair and kind as this. Top marks!

First impressions of this hotel will not fill you with confidence that you are getting good value for money or that your safety is 100% guaranteed. However having survived a night I can report that appearances can be deceptive and actually if you accept that this building needs a lot of TLC and that the area is not the most attractive you will have an OK experience. The much mentioned "pod" bathroom arrangements are hilarious and brought back memories of cramped caravan holidays. The reception area is not clearly labelled, the plastic petunias hideous and there is no chance of a room with a view as there are busy roads all around. That said the staff are really friendly, the beds comfortable, breakfast offer extensive and walk into central Chester really quick. Budget to pay £5 for parking in the nearby NCP car park.
