My Mum and I visited Oddfellows for afternoon tea during a Christmas 2010 shopping weekend. I had discovered Oddfellows online and liked the look of it, so phoned to book a space for afternoon tea.
It is a very grand building, quite (deliberately) dark and imposing inside, but boutique. Quite off-the-wall quirkiness too....like a Christmas Tree with knitted scarves wrapped around it instead of tinsel. Good move.
Now to the afternoon tea...we had it in a quiet little pantry-type room which had fabulous vintage plates, cups and saucers and teapots hanging from the ceiling as lights (unfortunately a fuse had gone so we could not see them lit).
Afternoon tea was great - 2 big mugs of tea, dainty little finger sandwiches in a variety of flavours, 2 GORGEOUS warm scones with jam and cream (oh my word they were soooo good!!), and a variety of little buns and pastries.
Very good. And a decent amount - I have had experience of afternoon teas where they are scrawny to say the least.
Overall a great place, fab decor (maybe not to grandmother's taste LOL but I loved it)
