“Amazing garden”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

Well worth a visit even if only for a drink in the wonderful garden , advisable to book if you want to eat here. A gem of a find in this wonderful city the memorials on the walled garden are well worth a look , fabulous atmosphere.

What a place! Went there for an afternoon tea in the garden, very stylish, absolutely loved it!
Very good selection of sandwiches and cakes for only 15.00£ per person! Enjoyed a glass of bubbly for just an extra £4.00!
The restaurant is als very classy, saw some plates coming out, and really made me want to stay for dinner and overnight stay...maybe soon!
Will come back for sure!

We stayed at the hotel for my nieces wedding, the wedding service was really good, but I am afraid the hotel left a lot to be desired. The room we had was in the new wing, the bed was very comfy but that was about all, there was no drawers and the wardrobe was down stairs. In the lounge part the table had a large crack in it and the seating was very low not much room and uncomfortable. The drinks and food are very expensive for what you get. We paid £155 per night which included a breakfast to go, but we still had to ask for this twice as they forgot to bring it. If you wanted a full breakfast you had to pay an extra £12 per person (if you go across the road to a little café you can get a full breakfast for £4.95). We have stayed in a lot of hotels in many different places and had better accommodation and service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: I can only go off our experience, choose a different hotel.

We started our honeymoon at Oddfellows in Chester. Despite the very smart interior they were very accommodating in locking away our bikes for the night and treated us in a very welcoming manner. The interior of the entire hotel and bar is amazing, I am in love with the funky slightly kitch style and would love to replicate it in my home. The room was brilliantly laid out and presented with a radio (I have already bought the same radio for my bedroom - inspired), coffee machine and hairdryer at your disposal. I wish we had stayed longer than one night as the hotel and city was amazing - I think a city break might be on the cards!!! I have only given it 4/5 stars as the breakfast was a bit stingy and would like to have eaten it at a table in the hotel rather than in the room (even if the room is magnificent!)

This hotel is well decorated and has a super bar and amazing outside drinking/dining area.
I stayed here for business and enjoyed superb service from the cheerful and can-do focussed staff.

My room in the new wing was immaculate and well appointed with a very comfortable bed and great shower.

The food in the restaurant is a little limited, although every meal I tried was great.

This hotel is definitely worth a visit if you fancy somewhere contemporary in central Chester.

We don't usually spend a lot on a 1 night stay- but you would if you stayed here before! I cannot praise the hotel and staff highly enough, very attentive and proffessional, there was a wedding party arriving when we got there, so rather busy!! But the gentleman on reception dealt with us and told us of a beautiful tea room on the river bank for lunch called Edgars, we took him up on it and made our way there!- gorgeous!!
Our room was fab- a huge round bed and double shower up the stairs.
My only tiny gripe would be the mini bar in the room.... A couple of complimentary ( alcoholic) drinks wouldn't go a miss.
We also had a 3 course meal in with the room package- outstanding!!! We were stuffed, the bar does get busy at night but there's always a seat somewhere.
We will definitely be going back! X

Just stayed for 1 night in a Classic Room in the new wing. A case study in everything a hotel room in this price band should be - relatively compact, but thoughtfully designed with an excellent shower and bathroom, beautiful, high quality fixtures and furnishings, a comfortable bed and lots of storage. And with some fantastic touches like a retro design Roberts digital radio and Nespresso machine. Add to this friendly, welcoming staff, great communal areas (particularly the Secret Garden) and a v central location!
