Description: The Bear & Billet is a terrific 3 storey pub located inside the walled city of Chester which was owned by the Earl of Shrewsbury & built in 1664. The Bear & Billet offers a great friendly place to enjoy food and drink. We have a wide selection of cask ales and well as draught and bottled beers from around the world. We have a full homecooked food menu available everyday day with Sunday lunch available every Sunday from 12pm-7pm. Not only that we have function rooms available for hire as well as live sport shown throughout the year with 5 flat screen TV's available on 3 floors.

Went in to the Bear and Billet for lunch with friends during a day trip to Chester. Good, honest pub food. I had chicken strips with pasta cooked in cream, wine and garlic - spot on. My friend had the same and her husband the lamb curry special. Food really tasty. £32 for the 3 of us incl. drinks. Serving staff polite. We will return.

Thank Robert Y

Nipped in here whilst shopping in the afternoon. Good choice of ales & lager. Friendly welcome by the staff, very traditional but definitely worth a visit, tried and sandwich and it was nicely presented and didn't have to wait too long considering it was reasonably busy. Would like to go back of an evening to see what it's like then and sample the food. Choice of food looked good but maybe a bit pricey for traditional pub fayre however if it is very nice no doubt would be worth the money.

My partner and myself dined here Monday night and had as good a pub meal as anywhere else we have ate in a pub. I had the home made steak and ale pie, i was not too hungry to be honest but I ate every last piece, well done chef. The pub is a nice genuine proper English pub and we will return next time we visit Chester.

We popped in for a pint on our sojourn around lovely Chester city and was extremely pleased and satisfied with a ripper lunch of cod and chips and peas and curry sauce here! My wife was truly in heaven. Well done. Friendly staff and nice ales on tap.

The food was OK but on the expensive side. We would have preferred a separate dining room, the bar was far too noisy to enjoy a meal, and the lighting where we sat was too dim to read the menu properly.
