I have stayed in a few travelodges in my time and they have all been disgusting, so I was not expecting much from my stay but I was pleasantly surprised.
We stayed here on a Friday & Saturday for a hen party.
The location was good, a short walk to shops, bars & riverfront. It was across from the roman amphitheatre which was pleasant.
The room which contained a double & single bed was spacious. Yes the TV's were a bit rubbish but I don't go away to watch telly. The rooms and reception looked clean and modern. It would have been nice to have some sort of bedside table to put my glasses and drink on. I could've put them behind the double bed on the ledges but as i was in the single I had nowhere to put stuff.
Our room, 109 had an awful smell in the bathroom, I don't know if it was the drains or what but it could do with looking into :)

Just returned from 4 nights stay here! A repeat booking but not again. Booked well in advance and paid top price. Despite this allocated SMALL room with no remote for tv. When we asked the male receptionist about the remote he said you can alter channels on the top of the tv. As the tv was mounted high on the wall this presented some problems to myself being 5ft 2. On the second day I said I could not reach the top of the tv. True he offered to move us but as we were settled in we declined. The room was at the back with a view of a yard backing onto I think the Pitcher & Piano pub next door. The net curtain was dirty. The heating did not work. We had a better room 3 years ago and only paid 25p then!!!!!
Travel lodges overall have really gone down hill. Also there is no parking although they give you voucher for the car park opposite for a 20% discount.
The only plus is the fact it is within walking distance of the town centre.

Dear Starfish1005, we are sorry to learn that you were disappointed with your recent stay at Travelodge. We expect our rooms to be set up correctly and it is regrettable our hotel staff were unable to provide you with a television remote on this occasion. All facilities are also expected to be clean and in good working order. Your comments will be passed to our Hotel Management team so they are able to address these issues and remind staff of the importance of customer care.

We choose here as I'm originally from Chester and we were meeting friends for a well deserved night away from the children, When we arrived we were given our room card and when we entered we were shocked how small the room was not enough room to swing a cat ( No cats were used or harmed) I sat on the bed and heard a loud crack, the room was tiny, no lockers at side of bed, we put the TV on and found there was no remote, Bathroom tiny had only a shower which had a dirty shower curtain up. went and complained was told all beds are brand new, and some rooms there were no remotes for the TV's. was moved to a room on the second floor much larger room only a bed in there no lockers again small TV no remote 1 small plastic chair. was not happy, decided just to get ready and go out, while my wife was getting ready I tried to watch Englands game on TV the picture was really bad, a pink square kept appearing on the bottom left side of the TV. overall not happy with the whole experience left feeling very disappointed. Only good thing about the place is the Location, if they sorted out some of the small things, it would be a pleasure to stay there. shame they missed a repeat customer.

Room Tip: NO Lockers, No remotes for TV, beds no great quality, overall very dissappointed

Thank you for your review glynner9. This hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment; we have put new pocket sprung king-sized beds in every room. We've received great feedback regarding our new beds and makeover and it is regrettable you were disappointed with some aspects of your stay. Our facilities should be in good working order and your comments will be passed to our Hotel Management team so they are able to address these issues and ensure our televisions are suitable for use.

Stayed the Travel Lodge on the 9th of September 2013(Monday night). The room was clean and spacious , had tea , coffee etc. in the room a lovely King Size bed. Although we were in the city center was really quiet and had a black out blind, I would advise that you bring a hair dryer as one is not provided and research parking however I was aware of this when booking,The manager did not get her name friendly lady with blonde hair let us store our bags in the staff room the next day while we were at breakfast in the staff room for no cost with was great :)

Room Tip: Bring a hair dryer and find somewhere to park ,
